Minimum system requirements for X3

I've been out of the loop here for about 10 years or so...so I was interested in upgrading from Sonar XL 2.1 to X3.
I don't have the minimum sys req, and am planning on using a dual core 2.7 ghz AMD Kuma, 4Gb ram, Win7, Focusrite Scarlette 18i20.
I don't plan on more than 20-24 tracks per project and will not be concerned with live synths and the like.
The projects are for getting my two boys (why I've been out of the loop) who have turned into fine musicians into recording.
Will this system do the job or should I stick with XL 2.1 and maybe Win XP?

I would think you'd be ok but your processor specs fall a little short of our recommended system requirements:

    System Requirements:
    • Windows 7 or Windows 8
    • Runs Native in 32/64-bit Windows
    • Intel Core 2 Duo E8200 2.67 GHz / AMD Phenom Quad Core 9750 2.4 Ghz or higher
    • 2 GB RAM
    • 1280x800 minimum screen resolution
    • 4.5GB for minimal install, 20GB recommended
    • 6GB download
    • Broadband internet connection for download
    • Gobbler requires internet connection
    • This download includes SONAR X3a

Use the built-in low latency monitoring on the Scarlett for all your tracking work and you should be fine. A second disc drive would help for audio files as well if you don't already have one.

Don't push lots of effects and softsynths during tracking as well...save that for edit and mixing.

If you are recording live action over MIDI drums, you should be good.

Amazed that Sonar X3 still runs on 32 bit to be honest!

    Thanks everyone for your input.
I didn't want to waste a Win7 registration if I had to go back to XP.
    I'll give X3 a shot.
Now I'll just have to see if TwelveTones Cakewalk can remember my XL 2.1 registration.
Maybe I can find my Cakewalk 4 floppies somewhere...
Time flies when your having fun kids.
