Minot ND Flooding

Hi all - I want to violate the TOS for a good reason... thanks for the grace.

We've got some flooding going on here in ND (and SD, pretty much anyone on the  Missouri River is getting nailed right now); at 1pm CDT today, the City of Minot issued an evacuation order.  There are a few zones in the city that are not evacuating because their elevation is high enough (so far) their flood risk is much lower... but already, 11,000 people have been displaced - and the floods are just getting revved up.

That area's had 200% more rainfall than usual this year, and there's a huge amount of snowpack in Montana just now starting to melt in earnest; this drains into the Missouri River reservoir system... Garrison Dam in NW North Dakota is running flat out at 150,000 cfs, but this will only slow it down... it's a mess.

So... if you would, please offer up some prayers for these folks... or send positive thoughts... whatever your way is, it's needed.

PS - I'm high and dry - Grand Forks is on the other side of the state, and the Red River of the North hasn't caused much trouble for us this year.

 We have one town that they don't think will ever return to existance. That is the town of Roche Precee that is between Estevan and the US Border.  Right now if you drive south to the border which is approximately 150 miles if going towards Minot, you see 3/4 water and 1/4 land and usually you don'r see any water from the highway.  Many roads and bridges out of service and other infrstructures such as sewage and water treatment plants have been compromised.  Even the Trans-Canada Highway #1 is closed in a couple of places in a 110 mile stretch east of our city.  This isn't something that is going to clear up and go away in a year or two, this will be a very long term to get things back to a somewhat normal stage.  Many farmers cannot plant at all others have about 5% in, But even if they have a little more dry land they can't get to it.

It's a mess - of biblical proportions.

Between Minot and outlying areas, about 12,000 people have been evacuated.  The expectation is that the waters will rise about another 7' or 8' before the crest... hopefully within 1-2 weeks.
