Missing Graphics setting in X2a
OK, Now I am having a fair few graphics issues with X2, and decided to do yet another install. This time the option for using Hardware acceleration has disappeared from the preferences menu... completely bamboozled. What the heck is going on?!

The hardware accelerator option was added in the X2a update. Did you reinstall the update after installing X2?

I'm running X2a and do not see an option for "hardware acceleration". Could you tell me where it is? Thanks, JG www.jerrygerber.com

From the X2a Update notes. It is for Win8 users only. Direct2D Technology PreviewIn Windows 8, SONAR X2a’s Matrix View and built-in ProChannel Modules can take advantage of Direct2D, which is a hardware-accelerated, immediate-mode, graphics technology from Microsoft. This option, labeled “Use Hardware Graphics Acceleration,” can be enabled in the Preferences dialog on the Display page.

Hi John, yup I am running windows 8 and that's the same places I'm looking for it. Is there any way to uninstall the x2a patch and reinstall it?

The only way I know to back out X2a is to perform a clean install of X2

Figured that might be the case. I'm having so many problems that this will be the 3rd clean install I will have done :-/.
Thanks

Don't forget the registry edit so you can achieve a clean installation.

What video card do you have installed in your system? IIRC X2a will only disply the use graphics acceleration if it detects that windows 8 and a suitable card is installed. If you are running an Nvidea or ATI card it should work. If you are using the embedded Intel video on your system board ti option will not be displayed. In previous version the option to use the Graphic Acceleration was present even if the hardware would not support it. In that event Sonar just ignored the setting.

Hi Tom
I'm using an Nvidia card GT640 with 2 gigs of ram. I have had to try a clean reinstall recently using the registry edit as well. It disappeared after this - it was there before.
I am having a bundle of graphics problems, I'm not sure it is an X2 problem. I'm sure it's something on my system but I really don't know what. X1e worked perfectly.
It can take upto 20-30 seconds to change screen sets, and I have no floppy drive enabled and the graphics are generally lagging if I push a button, let's say solo, it takes a second before it activates.
Really weird.

Stinga this is very strange. I don't have an answer for you. In that I am sorry. My only thought is to clean install Windows 8. Start from scratch and hope that it will fix the problem.

You could try removing the video driver. Reboot and reinstall the video driver. See if that helps.

I have Tom, I've also tried two different graphics cards, one ATI and a different NVidia card. No difference. Yesterday I did another clean installation of X2a and the graphics setting is still not showing up in the preferences. When I look at the version in sonar, it says X2a build 351 but the setting isn't there. The thing that troubles me is not so much the acceleration setting but whether X2 is being patched properly on my system. This is two consecutive clean installations I have done where this is happening. Weird. Edit = Build Number
