Missing Kontakt5
I have an old project that had Kontakt5 and now when I open the project it is missing. The odd part is that I have 3 version of Kontakt 5 available so not really sure what is missing? How can I see any details on a missing plugin?

Koktakt 5 exposes 3 separate entries in the plugin list - one is for 8 outputs, one for 16 outputs, and I think the other is just stereo. If you open up plugin manager and hover your mouse over each entry you'll see what the outputs are, you can then rename the entry accordingly in your custom plugin layout (if you're using one). I'd check this out on my DAW but I'm currently about 2,500 miles away from it

The 3rd dll for Kontakt has 64 outputs.
Could it possibly be that the old project was using a 32-bit version of Kontakt, and that you may now only have 64-bit versions of Kontakt loaded on the computer?
Since you DO have 3 flavors of Kontakt available now, can't you just swap out the one the older project was looking for, with one of the new Kontakt dll's? (just make sure you don't delete any associated tracks when you delete the existing Kontakt instance from the rack).
I suppose you could also simply add an instance of Kontakt (from your current 3) into the synth rack, and change the routing for the audio and midi tracks that were pointing to the missing one, to now point to the new instance you just inserted?

You pointed in the right direction. Ha figured it out, I did a kontakt cleanup and disabled the 8 and 16 output versions. I have everything back except that I had drag&dropped a sample for that patch that ended in Temp folder which is now gone.

I always just renamed each of the Kontakt versions that show up in the list, based on the number of outputs each has, which can be seen in the Properties>Details of each of the 3 dll's.
So, I end up with Kontakt 5 - 08 Outs, Kontakt 5 - 16 Outs, and Kontakt 5 - 64 Outs. For instances where I know I will have only a single instrument loaded, I always select the one with 8 outputs, and when I am building an instance that will contain multiple loaded instruments, I always choose the one with 16 outputs.
There are some trade offs between using multiple instances when dealing with a lot of instruments to place within some instance of Kontakt, and I have found that the 16 output Kontakt version serves me well in the balance of it all, so that is my go to version, and even there I load each Kontakt instance with no more than 6 instruments.
Whatever works for you is fine - the above meets my needs well, so that is how I have evolved to approach it.

I can see I have a lot of reading to do regarding setting Kontakt up the way I want.
I've only had it for a month or so and have not had time to anything apart from scratch the surface
