Missing instruments.

I "upgraded" to X2 via online download. I think it was 4 files that are now unzipped and stored on my backup. I am missing Studio Instrument Bass synth among some other things that I believe were supposed to be included. Were they in these "main" files or in the "additional content/welcom pac" downloaded files? How can I find/reinstall these from these downloads without affecting my program in any other way? I am in the middle of a recording project and I don't want to loose anything. I am 64 bit so when I made the change to that I lost many plugs and stuff but I still am fuzzy as to exactly what I should and shouldn't have. I wish Cake would have a complete list of what(plugs ,instruments etc.) I should have to use when running 64 bit.

You can run a custom install, exclude the main program files, and select any missing instruments for install, by making sure to check the boxes next to them.  The same goes for effects.  Please note that anything not 64-bit will indicate so next to the component in question.
I believe the additional content is demo stuff - you can expand that out and review items within it for installation prior to committing to actually installing anything, so just run it and see what opens.  I would do so after first running the main install and selecting any missing components.

    Hope that helps,

    Here's the disk contents:

    http://www.cakewalk.com/support/kb/pages/x2_download_installation_instructions.aspx

Everything except the extra loops and Dimension Pro (full version) are included on the main disc set. (Parts 1-4)

Pretty sure all the included Cakewalk instruments are 64-bit.
The built-in bit converter seems to be doing a pretty good job of managing and running most of my 32-bit instrument plugins so far! :)

Hey - sound - if you get this all working, please post back on that, so the next set of folks with this problem can see whatever worked to fix it.

    Thanks, and good luck,

Glad you asked.  I have the same question (I think):  After doing a normal install of Sonar X2 Studio, I get a list of twenty synthesizers when click Insert > Soft Synth; but four of them don't come up - I get a message saying "Failed to insert soft synth. The synth may not be properly installed."

Which ones are not coming up with that failure message?

I had this exact problem in 2010 with the Studio Instruments, not just the bass, but all three in that group. At first I thought it was a bad vst scan but that didn't help. My solution was to do what Robert suggested above and do a custom reinstall just hi-lighting those instruments. Everything was fine after that.

I did a custom re-install selected only the studio instruments, did a scan and they are fine. Thanks!

What version of SONAR are you running X1/X2? 32 or 64bit? Producer/Studio/Essentials?

CoyoteWT is not part of SONAR and I have not heard of sfz being called rgc:audio sfz in years. Are you trying to run older 32bit Dxi synths in 64bit SONAR? If so, the only two on this list that come with SONAR and are installedand supported in the 64bit version are Pentagon and an updated sfz.

Under Insert > Soft Synth, CoyoteWT is the second synth in a list of twenty.
In fact, here's the list I see:

    Plug-in Layouts  >
    ------------------
    Cakewalk TS-1
    CoyoteWT
    Cyclone
    DreamStation DXi2
    Pentagon I
    PSYN II
    rgc:audio sfz
    Roland GroveSynth
    -----------------
    CakewalkSoundCenter (32-bit)
    (x64)Dimension LE
    DropZone (32-bit)
    Rapture 64 LE
    RXP (32-bit)
    sfz
    SI-Bass Guitar
    SI- Drum Kit
    SI-Electric Piano
    SI-String Section
    Square T (32-bit)
    z3ta+

I did nothing particular to install any of these, I only did a normal system install and there they were.  I thought I'd take a look at each one as I was going through the tutorials and found the problem with those four.

    I'm using Sonar X2 Studio (X2 build306) -x64, on a 64 bit HP Pavilion P6000.

They are in the DXi section. What other sound software has been installed on this machine? Other software could register DX addons and those addons will appear in the plugin list. Just because the plugin manager sees DX entries in the registry it does not mean they are usable in 64bit SONAR. You can clean up the display by using the plugin manager to exclude plugins.

    Oh!  That must explain it.

I have Sonar Home Studio 4 still on my machine, also MuseScore, and Cubase LE 4.  I'll bet it's from Cubase or MuseScore.

Thanks a bunch.  I never would have figured that out.
