"Missing plug in" Dialogue
Hi all, seems when I posted in a thread with that topic, my question was not seen since the last to post there did so 8 years ago ;-) Please let me ask again: In Sonar X3e I opened a project I had created with a previous version. Later, I replaced the old plugin by an actualized one. The actual one is found, however, Sonar keeps first showing me the missing plugin dialogue box indicating that the old one which I do not use anymore, cannot be located. How can I get rid of that dialogue box which in my case is useless? Thankx.

You'll probably have to delete the plugin, save the project, and then re-insert it. Even though two plugins may have exactly the same name and path, they will still be treated as separate entities if their CLSIDs (internal IDs) are different. That is sometimes the case between different versions of the same plugin.
All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to. My Stuff

Thankx for your reply, but how do I delete a plug in that is not in the project anymore? At which place inside Sonar X3 can I find the listed plugins, please? Or: Where are those plug in listings being saved? Inside the Project?

I really believe this could have been better supported by Sonar if the plug-in is missing by not being dependent on just the CLSID alone. If the CLSID doesn't match, since the project still shows the name of the plug-in in either the FX bin or FX Chain in PC, a quick search through the Plug-In Manager could turn up alternate plug-ins of the same or similar names. If one is found, Sonar would show those and ask if it, either, or any of the alternate(s) would be the same. If the user selects one, Sonar could pull the settings from the missing plug-in and apply them to the new plug-in. That really can't be so difficult, surely.

There's two ways I know how to remove a failed plug-in from a Sonar project. You can open it in safe mode, obviously, by Shift+Open, then hunt for the plug-in, which hopefully is displayed in an FX Bin or FX Chain in brackets. delete it from there, or, an I suggest highly, backing up your Project before you do this: Open the Project in NotePad and hunt for the plug-in's name. You can possibly delete out the information from that plug-in's section. Then save the Project and re-open again in Sonar.
