Mix strip

Can anyone advise how this works on individual tracks? i.e. how are the tracks assigned to it?
 
Also can it be used for all tracks at the same time as part of the mixdown?

    Each audio/instrument track and bus has a Mix Strip. The Mix Strip is displayed for the track/bus with focus. The name of the track is show at the bottom of the strip. To have one strip affect all tracks, route the tracks through a bus.
