Mixer/Interface

I'm looking to add to my gear collection with a compact mixing desk that doubles up as an audio interface. I'm wanting to do some freelance demo recording for my band and others. I've been looking at the Mackie Pro FX8, Allen & Heath ZED10FX & The Alesis MultiMix 8. I would like an 8 channel mixer with on board effects purely for versatility.

Has anyone had any experience with any of the units mentioned? ... or can anyone recommend some similar models?

Cheers

Love the Allen & Heath ZED-R16 as my interface.  Also doubles as an ACT controller.

Looks amazing, however it's not compact and it's about £1400 out of my price range.

the alesis multimix 8 USB is 2 channel only and uses the USB audio codec for drivers.

IMO it's crap and not worth any price.
