A single user has posted over 250 spam messages today in the Cakewalk Instruments forum. Moderator required urgently. He still continues. Right now is posting at the rate of one thread per minute.

It's absolutely ridiculous that there is no system in place to catch that kind of spam automatically and delete it. Come on Cake!

By the way, the thing to do (which I just did) is to select one of the spam posts and report it as abuse but, in this case, select "Urgent" from the drop-down list. Let's see what happens.

I did that 9 hours ago but it has escalated since then. There are probably thousands of spam threads there by now.

They should have the ability to simply delete the user and have all posts made by that user automatically removed.
If not, then they REALLY need better forum software!

For every 10,000 people who dismiss spam as spam, there will be one stupid person who falls hook line and sinker for it. I know a girl whose grandmother ended up giving almost $300,000 to a Nigerian email scammer. Even when her flabbergasted family explained to her what she'd done, she still had no regrets. She figured he needed the money more than her. People like this are why spam is always going to be worthwhile.

The mods can block the IP address of spammers. But all they have to do is change to a different portal and they can get back in. A determined spammer is going to get past every gate set in his path to get in and do the dirty deeds.
The best defense is for everyone to report them with an URGENT notification to the mods and hope the mods are checking in on a regular basis, especially on Friday evenings and occasionally throughout the weekends. The spammers know the mods take time off on the weekends so they seem to hit the forums on Friday after closing hours hoping their spam will remain until the following work week.
It has been suggested to the mods in the past to make certain long time users mods as well, so that they (whoever "they" would be) could delete spammers on the fly. That has not happened yet, to my knowledge. I still think it would be a really good idea.

Actually, the mods should be able to ban an entire block of addresses (I know I can in the forum I'm a Senior Mod for).

I agree. This is getting out of hand and the mods need some help.
