Monarch Butterfly Migration

photographed on Monday Oct 20th 2009.

These migrating Monarch Butterflies rest and take a last meal from a Groundsel Tree (a.k.a. Salt Fetter Bush) before flying hundreds of miles across the Gulf Of Mexico as they journey south for the winter.

Did you take that shot? It's breathtaking.

Two doors down from me is one of the foremost entymologists on the east coast. The guy can spot a baby blue-tailed-whipper-snapper-moth-beetle (or whatever) from 20 yards away. I'll share this pic with him!

    Thanks,

yes I did... I picked it out from a bunch of shots I took yesterday. My wife and went out for a dockside lunch and a sunset hike.

The county just south of us is on the coast and nearly 80% public land.

    best,
