Mono audio track changes to stereo as soon as I hit the record button

Hello to all,

I hope someone has an idea to help me solve this problem.
I'm running Sonar Plat on Creation Station and have been OK for the last two years with a Roland Duo-Capture EX.

1) I open a new project, the simple one with just one audio and one midi track.
2) The audio track is a mono track when I start.
3) I arm the track and I click R for record.
4) The track starts to record but has immediately changed to a stereo recording, with only the left side being recorded (since that is where I always record my audio to (I've always used mono). The right side has no signal.

My only change is I have just changed the settings on my Roland Duo-Capture EX from 44100 to 48000Hz and 16 to 24 bit.
Could it be related?

Many thanks in advance,
Ray

You probably have the input set to record from a stereo input. You need to choose either the left or right channel for the track to record in mono. For example an interface has inputs 1 and 2. These are typically a stereo pair. You can plug a guitar into 1, select 1 in SONAR, and you're good to go. If you select 1+2 you've told SONAR to record in stereo, so it will.

The first 3 books in "The Musician's Guide to Home Recording" series are available from Hal Leonard and http://www.reverb.com. Listen to my music on http://www.YouTube.com/thecraiganderton, and visit http://www.craiganderton.com. Thanks!

Hi. I was going to say the same as Craig.
It happens when you record without specifying inputs. Did it in a hurry yesterday myself
All the best.
