Monthly Platinum Updates -- Shouldn't We Already Have had the "O" One?

Just curious -- My recollection is that the "A" release occurred in January 2015 and the "L" came out either late November or early December (as December's release), matching the 12 months of 2015 with the first 12 letters of the alphabet.  If that's correct, "N" would be February's release and "O" for March (as we near the end of the month), so did I miss something?    Or did "A" (whatever that release was named) come out in February of last year, after NAMM?  Thanks,

Historically there has been a release a month, however; Cakewalk never committed to monthly updates. That said the month is not over.

They've been pretty consistent thus far, usually sometime in the last week of the month, it seems to me inching a bit closer to the end of the month of late but that might not be correct, just my vague impression. I have however been wondering if the 'early release' would drop any day now for those of us that like to live dangerously and update quick like easter bunnies...

I was thinking this as well, but I seem to recall a number of instances last year where the release for a given month actually occurred during the last week of the preceding month.

As for the comment by "scook" about no guarantee of monthly releases, I thought there was an entire discussion about this but I couldn't find it.  I note that the payment choices are $149 up front of $14.99 per month, and one can reasonably expect there is a benefit to paying the entire amount of front (which equates to 10 monthly payments) -- so at least 11 releases but I could have sworn that somewhere CW seemed to indicate it would be monthly.

In any event let's see what happens next.

I think the "A" update came with the original download.

No sight of "The Big O" release yet... anticipation is crucial with this one... (and still some debate on if web cams should be used with user statistics).

There was never a month with two releases. There has been one release per month - Alston in January, Braintree in February, Cambridge in March, etc. There were some releases when a hotfix occurred, after a particular "named" release and independent of it.

Bakers also need time to breath.
Forcing for MONTHLY updates will give "Add Track", "LANDR" etc etc.

Monthly updates is surely the norm and has been translating as a commitment too from Cakewalk. Normally, I would have always expected it to come right at the end of the month, like say update for Jan 2016 on 30th or 31st of Jan.

But the bakers have actually been ahead of time almost every month for the last 10 or more months. So, I would just let the month close out and leave it till 30th or 31st of March 2016. After all, exciting stuff could be in store and its better that it takes its adequate time to cook and be presented

You would have gotten those whether the updates were monthly or yearly. It's important to understand that work on specific features begins months in advance. They're "harvested" when they're ready. Some features take longer than others and some take less time. Those that take less time will be ready sooner and therefore be available while more complex features are still being developed. Also note that Add Track and LANDR were added in the same update, they weren't the only updates in individual months. If you want to know about an upcoming feature that takes more time to develop, look at the thread about UI themes.

Andrew, I warned you about the early access program but nooo...you wouldn't listen. Now you have a bunch of users who didn't know how to use the Time Travel plug-in properly, and are now in April. So of course they think they haven't received the April update yet. Then again they may actually be posting from April...I did notice the time stamp on some posts was "two weeks from now."

I sure hope you subject the Hovercraft to far more extensive beta testing than you did with the Time Travel plug-in. Although at least the Hovercraft doesn't have the potential to disrupt the time/space continuum.

In any event, though, thanks for the tip on selling Apple stock short before June 12, 2016. Much appreciated.

Actually they have been advertising with "monthly" updates for a good while, though I suppose without actual release dates that leaves some wiggle room. But yeah the month isn't even over and certainly wasn't even near over when this thread started.

I completely agree with you Mr Craig.
You know better the whole set of posts regarding LANDR and Add Tracks.
I mentioned that bakers needs time to breath - I meant that this development is also a creativity which cannot be forced with a timeline, unless they have already something stored ahead of time but not released.

Yes I have already seen the UI theme thread. That is lovely. I wish there could be a glimpse of the Track View as well. I requested there if MIDI channel, Bank and Patch can be included.

The early access program was described as giving new releases about a week in advance so not entirely unreasonable at this point to wonder what's up.  Some cool stuff has been promised for the Spring releases so some of us are just impatient

I've been running "Orange" for a few weeks now... It is AMAZING!  You won't F'n believe it!  Have spent many hours with the Bakers giggling about this thread, debating whether they should wait till 11:59 on March 31... I am sorry I suggested it.  They loved the idea... watching all the ruminations... it's soooo much fun.  And all the wonderful learning that this thread has engendered... phenomenal! And to think it was going to be released 2 days ago!

After thoroughly troubleshooting the sweet tasting "Orange"  and deciding it tastes PERFECT this thread appeared... What a coincidence!  After reading a few of the posts we "special" people... all of "us" decided to see how much fun "we" could have before releasing it...

It really IS AMAZING!  It's close to our dream of hoverboards... and it'll be posted a minute before April fools. or maybe earlier if saner heads prevail!   But waiting for the next super comment which makes us all go, "wow!  glad we saw THAT!!!" makes it hard to resist stretching this out to the very last moment.

Vastman,
You may not realise it but this is a very strange post!   I don't think that Cakewalk had intended to create a "Master Race" by implementing their Early Release schedule.  On the other hand, as a user I appreciate the effort you and the other early adopters are putting in to make sure that any problems are found as early as possible.  I guess this does make you "special" though, not in the "short bus" kind of way of course.

Cheers

I think this is the case of unintended consequences...

Although given the front runner in GOP land, referencing a "Master Race" is becoming politically popular or incorrect, depending on your party...

The bakers conducted a very thorough search, using their new analytics program, to identify a variety of super users who spend a LOT of time on SPlat.  I scored VERY high in the category of  always ends up doing lots of stupid things...
