More Issues with Lanes

I know its been beat to death BUT what IS up with lanes?

The "holes" in between lanes won't go away, I can't slip edit or fade the clips.
I "split" Record 2, Take 1 (notice its T5, WT?) but I cannot select and delete any of the clips.
Closing the project and re-launching Sonar had no effect whatsoever.
I feel like Keni here.
Now in fairness I had "cloned" track 1, to keep the effects and sends the same (both are vocal tracks), I deselected "events" and ONLY included "effects" and "sends".
{Different issue, BUT why does a "new" audio or midi track ALWAYS end up at the bottom of the track view?
IF I have track 1 selected shouldn't the new track appear directly below it? off topic}
Anyway, I deleted the problem track (VOX 2), inserted a "new" track, manually set it up to match VOX 1 and went about my business.
I do randomly have issues slip editing, applying fades.
A simple save, close and re-open solves this.
BUT NOT the empty lanes and hole issue.

    I feel your pain on this one as I had issues with lanes that, curiously enough, followed a track clone.  Not sure if this is part of the recipe for reproducing the issue but we have to find some common steps that in order to go from random to deterministic.

    Here's my thread which details the steps just before my issues with lanes began:

    Note that I created a ticket for the problem in case you wanted to refer to it in any communication with Cakewalk:  CWBRN-14119

    I've followed your thread and Keni's travails as well.
    I won't "clone" a "laned" (is that right? a track containing lanes anyway) track again.
    Hopefully we are one patch away from a stable X2 environment.

    I had an interesting experience when I opened up an old project, which was shipped as a Sonar demo some years ago, a song called Room For Clarity. I expanded one of the tracks to see the lanes (which would have been originally recorded as layers) and had a number of tracks all open up their lanes (layers.) When I went to close up the lanes I noticed the open/close lanes button had vanished from the tracks leaving all the lanes in a permanently open state - interesting.
