More Midi Whoa's - Sonar Crashing

Going back and editing a project, everything plays fine as is, then adding a new soft synth track, without even recording new or importing midi file into new track, I play track but loose control of control panel as soon as i press space bar to stop, lose audio and its stuck on play continuously and wont stop, although mouse remains active and am able to select menu items, delete track etc. while it continues to play and wont stop even at end of tracks, I can close project from "X", it asks if I want to save file, saying yes, Sonar appears still active, I can reload same file but play controls are still frozen and no audio, closing Sonar from "x" reports crash as per below, oddly only seems to occur (so far) on various versions of in this particular project? Strange, anyone every experience this?

Sounds like it could be driver-related. Which interface are you using?

Ive done a few tests I tried creating a new main project folder with a version of project, which again plays fine, until I insert a new track of any type it now seems, audio, midi or soft synth track, so not isolated to soft synth, and the same issue occurs? Again oddly this only seems to happen with this particular project/set of tracks, no others, so far. Its like its not allowing me add anything to this project. I guess next I could go through deleting tracks to see if its related to one particular track. Weird?

Hi. Which OS do you have? I found some posts when Googling StackHash, and it seems to be a windows issue.

    Hope it helps.

Sound like you're on the right track (no pun intended).  It certainly seems like the project or one of the components has gotten corrupt.  Without knowing exactly what part, copying tracks to a new project could be pointless, so yeah, probably best to try and isolate the offending track/component.

Perhaps you could try doing a Save As, to see if that resolves things, OR, open the project and copy tracks and data and settings to a new project, and maybe that would get you a non-corrupted new project file.

What sorts of plugins are present?

Thanks all for replies, sorry was out in the cold for a while, -25 degrees Celsius here today, brrrrrr, ( I guess I should create a list of all my equipment, etc. in my signature). Some files/tracks were done on my old computer, and transferred over (as were most of my other projects).

Win 7 X64, Sonar Platinum x64 (Manchester), X99 based system, 5820 CPU (6 core, 12 hyper), 16 Gig ram, running Windows and Sonar/plugin's, from a primary 500 gig SSD. Little CPU usage showing on 12 CPU Sonar performance meters.  (and RME UFX),

Its only 25 tracks, so not my largest, 24 bit, 96K sampling, only 3 are midi synths currently,  Addictive Drums, Addictive Keys, and Dimension Pro 9 (sax), rest are analog, some were bounced to analog from original midi synths, otherwise basic ProChannel plug-ins on most tracks, EQ, tube, Comp, limiter, and reverb and delay as send to buses, so nothing extreme than any other projects I've done.
I've done a number of save as scenario's, (and creating new project folders) and gone back a number of versions of project (now on Ver. 65, from original guitar, and Addictive drums tracks). As noted I may just be re-saving corrupted files.
Anyway at this point Ill I guess Ill try going a number of versions and/or try weeding out track by track to see if a particular track or tracks are to blame, this could be quite a long process, particularly if not one track alone causing it. Ill try and report back if I resolve it.

Otherwise I guess there's nothing specific I could look for that may somehow affect the record/playback/transport controls functions? Say like in configuration file or other preference settings or elsewhere in track and/or clip investigator?

    cheers

Thanks all for the feedback help here,

As it turns out I reverted to an early version that I found didn't seem to have these issues, since I didn't loose any recorded data it seemed less time consuming, and more educational to do some remixing then spending my time trying to determine what may have caused what seems like a random Windows based error (Stackhash) on some files. As apparently it only affected these particular project versions, I didn't want to start changing overall Windows settings, in the hope it may suite these files somehow.  (Albeit it would be good to know why, Microsoft isn't paying me or extending my life for beta testing Windows, LOL).

Real lesson learnt, try to take the time to better document saved pre-sets, mix scenes name relevance for when having to revert back to or revisiting a previous project. I suppose this could be documented in the project info file, or by creating a standard project reference template/form. (Would be nice also if Sonar could generate some kind of project history log file automatically?).
I guess as with life, as you gain experience you lessen the occurrences of, could of, would of, should of, moments, or as Bob puts it, dohhhhh! moments.

    Cheers all

Hey Zargg, FYI I tried the suggested fix to "Stackhash" error, which was to deactivate DEP, Data Execution Prevention, by listing exe file (Sonar) in an exclusion list, however returns a message to the effect, that 64 bit executable cant be excluded.
