More Plugin Layouts Inconsistency

Kontakt 5 has 3 options for inserting it in X3
4 Outs
8 Outs
32 Outs

Of course we all know that unless we rename them they all show as
Kontakt 5
Kontakt 5
Kontakt 5
and we have to guess which is which.

However they are able to be renamed (plug-in properties button) but you can't just look at the .dll and name it for the .dll and have it be correct.
The only way to get it correct is to test them one at a time and name them for what actually happens when you insert
that particular instance when the option to insert all audio outs is selected.
I grabbed images. You'll see my renamed "friendly" names, which now represent what actually happens when I insert that plugin
BUT
Compare it to the name of the .dll in the file name line below and you'll see that it is not the same as my friendly name,
however my "friendly" names actually represents what actually happens when the plugin is inserted.

Can someone please verify this behavior and once I have a second opinion I'll submit it to the problem reporter.
Thank you!

The Filenames Sonar displays are the actual dll names, so it is displaying those properly.

Further, regarding the following from your post:

"Of course we all know that unless we rename them they all show as

The above is not actually accurate, as you CAN examine each plugin's Properties > Details and see exactly how many outputs each dll has, along with some other displayed info.

In the Cakewalk Plug-In Manager, single click on the desired dll, then click on Plug-in Properties, then click on Details, and you will see the number of outputs listed there for that dll.

The VST names displayed in SONAR X2 and above are controlled by the VSTPlugInNameFormat variable in the Cakewalk.ini. See here for details about the variable and here on how to change it. Accepted values for  VSTPlugInNameFormat are:

0 - Format 0:  Vst supplied name - new default
    1 - Format 1:  DLL Name - pre-X2 behavior
2 - Format 2:  VST Plugin Name (DLL Name)
3 - Format 3:  DLL Name (VST Plugin Name)

An alternative to changing the VSTPlugInNameFormat is renaming via a custom plug-in layout. Changing the name in the plug-in properties is not recommended because it will get wiped out when the VST inventory is reset.

Yes, I see now after tunneling down to the details.
My "friendly" names are counting one stereo pair as one track so they're working for me as I need them to work.

    I'll test with a rescan.

Update: Yea, Rescanning nuked my friendly names.
So I found an other fix. I added the 8 out and 16 out to the excluded plug-in list.
I can't imagine ever wanting to limit the number of outputs so the only one I see now is 32 stereo outs, 64 mono outs.

    Thanks for the help guys!
We can call this one done.

I will add one other bit...   When you click on the plugin in the Browser, towards the bottom right it will display which multi-out version of Kontakt you've selected.   You may have to widen the Browser a little to see the whole thing, but that's how I differentiate between the three.    It does this for all VSTs, though I find it most useful for Kontakt and others that have multiple output versions.
