More X2 Piano roll questions

1. In X1, if I had the smart tool selected, and I right-clicked on a note, it deleted it.  Similarly, if I right-clicked in the controller pane and dragged, it would delete the controller events I dragged over.  Now, in X2, right-clicking on notes acts the same, but right-clicking in the controller pane selects events.  ?  Why?  And how can I change that behavior back to what it was?

2. In X1, if I had multiple tracks selected in a single piano roll view, and I selected a bunch of notes across tracks, if I right-clicked on one, it would play all of the selected notes.  Now, in X2, I'm getting some weird results - in my current project, I have seven tracks.  Lets say I select all the notes present (across all tracks) at a particular point in the piece (with, say, 12 orchestra parts playing).  When I click on a note from track 1, only that note plays.  When I click on a note from track 2, notes from tracks 2 and 4 play.  When I click on a note from track 3, notes from tracks 3, 5, and 6 play.  (No real pattern here, and I can't for the life of me figure out what's going on.)  This is a fresh project, so there's no weird stuff here - just seven tracks, each loaded with a .vst plugin.  I liked the way it worked in X1 - I could select and then hear chords across the orchestra, and select a bunch of different ones I'd written and hear them in quick succession (instead of playing the piece back).  Help?

Seems like a lot of what I'm dealing with are seemingly minor changes to the UI.  I've scoured the customization options and the (rather lackluster) help pages online, but I haven't had any luck.
