More news on iZotope's Alloy successor
Neutron and Neutron Advanced https://www.absolutemusic...n-A-smarter-way-to-mixEdith: don't like the look of that GUI as much as Ozone7's. Seems like a step back, visually. Interesting tracking analysis OTOH.

And then all of us bundle owners will immediately plop down the ($99? $79? $49?) upgrade price.

Why not just call it Alloy 3? Because you couldn't get away with charging $336 for it. And why "Neutrino", the smallest and weakest of the subatomic particles? At least "Alloy" invokes images of a burly blacksmith forging battle swords or an alchemist making gold from lead. "Neutrino" sounds like dinner conversation on the Big Bang Theory.

No. What? Is this really going to be a thing? I downloaded Neutrino and messed a little, but it is too vague at this point to feel any urge to apply it to my mixes. I fear it is just "mouse milk".

Maybe the non-advanced one could be interesting for EQ node suggestions. The individual plugins in Neutron Advanced will be less cpu-taxing sisters of the ones in Ozone 7 Advanced, but I guess I'll prefer the latter, at least GUI wise.

The Future is here: " ...intelligence within Neutron allows Track Assistant to automatically detect instruments, recommend the placement of EQ nodes, and set optimal settings for other modules. You still maintain full control over all your mix decisions, but..." When somebody starts talking to me when I mix, giving advices, I feel like this:

It's like a thermos. It keeps cold things cold and hot things hot. But how do it know?

Guy walks into the store, asks what that thermos thing is...clerk says "it keeps hot things hot and cold things cold". Cool, says the guy, I'll buy one. Comes back the next day demanding a refund, saying it didn't work. "You said it would keep hot things hot and cold things cold, but it doesn't!" "What did you put in it?" the clerk asks. "Coffee and ice cream." Customer: what does this Neutron thing do? iZotope: it will tell you where to set every knob for a professional, radio-ready mix. Customer: cool, I'll take it. Next day, customer is experiencing buyer's remorse... Customer: you told me this would tell where to set every knob for a professional, radio ready mix. It doesn't. iZotope: in what way did it not meet your expectation? Customer: _____________________ {please fill in the blank, e.g. "it suggested setting the master fader to -96 dB and then go take singing lessons"}

It did not understand the need for the Am bass note. It kept masking it.

Neutron keeps removing my guitar solos and it's turning my drums into 808s. I'm sure this plugin is just analyzing frequencies and suggesting cuts for frequency matching. I'm pretty sure Melda is planning something similar. I'm surprised Izotope beat them to market.

Considering that a lot of people making music are now using sample libraries and virtual instruments and that popular music is only becoming more repetitive, it seems logic that "intelligent" plug-ins will eventually be able to handle most mixing and mastering duties. They'd probably be of no use if you fed them a multitrack session of a 70's classic...

Neutrino is also a member of a uk garage band.. i found it funny in that sense. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oxide_%26_Neutrino as for izotope.. I'll wait a year or 3 till they HIGHLY discount with perhaps , or no backward compat (like iris) .. like 2 other things I bought from them.. not a fan of the companies marketing antics (and many more companies) and how much I've spent with them vs other companies.. wanna discount stuff so much ? no worries, I'll wait for that discounted price.
