More nonsense
I’m sorry to be so pissed off recently, you guys all rock. I’m just having terrible issues. I’m recording my friend’s album and we’re on a time limit. I’m using a Yamaha DTX kit to trigger Addictive Drums 2 in Sonar Platinum. Only problem: everytime I hit record with AD recording, AUDIO DROPOUT and then, “SONAR STOPPED WORKING.”
Not using many plugins or soft synths. Even made an mp3 of my project without drums, imported into a new, blank project as a stereo wav and tried to record AD track to that. Same damn thing.
So, I have two questions: What the hell is going on? And, more importantly, if worse comes to worse (I’m on a time constraint) and can’t figure it out, can I record with Session Drummer, basically creating a midi performance with the drummer, then MIX with AD2? What’s the best way to go about this?

10 gigs of ram? that don't sound right? are you using miss matched ram? Not all i7 are the same... Check your bios and make sure you are in turbo mode. Try using mme 32 bit drivers just to get through the project. make sure you only have one sound card installed. uninstall all sound devices. and reinstall only the ones you should have. Turn off windows updates forever! and get some good virus software. Turn off your internet when working with DAW. When you start to have problems SAVE and reboot...
Hay look, Somethings are not locked in stone... lol 3/18/2019

What do you mean by "with AD recording"? Do you mean the audio track that's routed to AD, or a MIDI track to record the MIDI input from your kit? Or do you mean that the synth window for AD is write enabled for some reason?

Thanks for the replies, especially since I was such a douche the other day. Answers:
- yes, up to date interface driver - yes, using ASIO - RAM is fine, I think - will check turbo mode and uninstall the onboard soundcard. Disabled now, but will try uninstalling. - will check mme drivers. What should that be for MIDI, by the way? - I didn’t know about plug in balancing? Will check that tomorrow.
Sharke:
What I mean is.....I insert AD2....I route the pieces to individual tracks within Sonar, arm the MIDI track, which arms all the tracks, hit record and go (input monitoring on, of course).
Maybe 15-20 seconds goes by and....audio dropout. Then, I close Sonar and an immediate, “Sonar has stopped working” error.

When you are tracking the drums, just record the MIDI track. Do not record the audio until you finish tracking. Also there is no need to split AD out to individual tracks until you are ready to mix. Balance the drum sounds from within the AD UI.

Oh, really? I thought you had to track it individually. So, I can just have AD inserted as a single output, record, then what? Insert another instance of AD with multi out and drag the MIDI performance down to the multi out?
