Mosh, how about a movie review?

I'm watching this one: http://focusfeatures.com/the_limits_of_control

and thinking to myself, "wow, I haven't seen a well made film in a few months... this one seems really well made."

I really like how the writing and pre production seem to have resulted in a visual story telling style where the camera just finds it's place naturally and with out any symptoms of a lust for production gear and electro mechanical technology.

I think you might like it, but then it also occurs to me that it isn't very novel or original... it's much more classical, structural and formal than most movies out these days yet it seems novel because it seems so ordinary. It seems like a movie made by some one who has studied and learned a lot of lessons about film making.

I can't keep my eyes off it.

What do you think?

best regards,
mike

Mike, I know you addressed this to Mosh, but when I saw the pic that you posted, I remembered seeing this film. I don't even recall how I saw it, other than maybe Comcast had it on-demand. It is one of those movies that once to start to watch, you can't stop watching. I thought it was very good.

    Hi,

Ohhh my gawd ... not another Christopher Doyle film with the camera running all over the place. Chang Kar Wai made his money off Doyle ... and now Jarmusch!

I definitly want to see this ... he's fun to see, review and watch ... you never know what you're gonna get!

Been working on updating my website with some more reviews, adding recently Roger Waters, Richard Thompson and Neil Young to it.  I'm making sure to go through my film reviews on/with music and make sure they all go up and then make a list of them for folks here.

I did clean up the Music Reviews page so there are 3 separate sections now and easier to see.

    Thx

    Sniff Sniff

I remember movie nights with my McQ.

I miss the popcorn almost as much as I miss McQ's wit.

Since I haven't seen the movie, I'm not going to give you a full review. (well I suppose I could if you asked...)

So I'll give you the quick summary instead:

It just may be the best film I haven't seen this year!

In order, then, to discover the limit of deepest tones, it is necessary not only to produce very violent agitations in the air but to give these the form of simple pendular vibrations. - Hermann von Helmholtz, predicting the role of the electric bassist in 1877.
