Most inneficient download ever seen!

Guys, am I alone on this: I've been trying to download X2 files for about 2 days and only was able to get Part1! (in hope it will not show corrupted!) If I try to do more than one at a time, it end up stucking and as Cakewalk allow 300 minutes (!!!), I wake up the next day with 2 downloads stucked half way or so. And no way to resume, but have to start over and even more: my connexion is no longer valid and I have to log in again. First, how come they can't come up with something a little more friendly (such as 'one' big file, with some download manager that allows to resume if something stuck? Such as Adobe does, or Avid? If they don't go that way, at least please give me more than 300 minutes, or do not void my connexion after 300 minutes.

300 minutes = 5 hours

I'm on a dire broadband package that sometimes dips as low as 100kbps. And yet I was still able to download all of the big files overnight and certainly within the 5 hour limit.

Your broadband must be even worse than mine lanstrad?

The ISP is not in question here: i downloaded a full 8gb Adobe suite last week and it was done first shot (overnight) with nothing corrupted. We're in 2012 man, it's unacceptable that a second version be shipped like this

Use CHROME!

Or if you must use Internet Explorer, get the Free Download Manager. I downloaded the whole thing in about 5 hours and that was with a teleconference going over VoIP at the same time.

I have to agree with Bristol Jonesy. I'm in the UK too and the downloads worked fine and first time. Downloaded all the files in about half an hour.

Blimey! That was good. Are you on cable? I'm on ADSL broadband with no chance of cable being installed in my area. I pay my provider for 2mb but I sometimes get better than that, sometimes worse. But yeah, I still got all of my downloads okay.

+1!

Using Free Download Manager makes it extremely easy to queue everything up and walk away - and you can even set it to shut down your computer automatically.

It's also a great tool to use to grab local copies of some of the online training videos...

Its actually taking me much longer to install than download haha.

I got 2 network errors over the course of downloading, but still managed to get it all downloaded over the course of 3 hours yesterday.

The difference between the Adobe download the OP references and this download is that Adobe uses a download manager that can resume downloads if there's a network hiccup whereas Cakewalk expects 2-3GB files to download uninterrupted.  I got to 1.9GB on 2 different files before they crapped out last night, which was a waste.  Adding a download manager to the website would resolve it.

I used Chrome and free download manager and had zero problems. I have Xfinity  internet svc with 40mbs download speed. No problems at all. I followed install directions and opened the first .exe of each file and then started the install. Easiest install yet!

Chrome certainly helped, not perfect though. After 3 days Instead of 4..), guess I *should* have everything... Now time to launch this install.

That's not Cake's fault, le internette is just chock-a-block with strange ISP traffic control. I'm not saying you're getting throttled (though you may be), but everyone's relationship with their connection is pretty unique (oddly).

I'm getting good-but-not-great speeds on mine, but another file-distribution service from a different project keeps failing out. When Cake first switched to whomever this current provider is I had a terrible time (like you!) but when I upgraded from WinXP to Win7 it totally improved.

But hey maybe it's balanced out somehow, are your pr0n downloads faster?

The 300 minutes is only for accessing the link to the download not the time in which you have to download the actual files. It's purely a security measure so the links don't stay active forever.

Downloaded it all except Dim Pro but including the SWA video last night without problems. I use Firefox with Down Them All.

My first attempt did fail because my wireless router locked up. This time I used a wired connection.

I used Firefox, and although I probably should have started one at a time, I just fired all 4 parts at once and they all were done in a few hours - no glitches - no hang ups. Shaw is my IPS, and the lowest speed was around 167kbs & fluctuated between that & the highest speed up to around 300kbs. Bandwidth can have something to do with it as well.

I knew there would be issues when SONAR X2 was released to the general public, so that is why I pre-ordered and downloaded it a day early. Unfortunately, you have to deal with the Amazon cloud services and share the bandwidth with everyone else.

To those of you having issues:  Have you read the instructions/suggestions others have posted on downloading?   I dl'ed on the first day X2 became available to the public - surely the heaviest download period - and experienced no problems whatsoever.

I have a slow to mid- speed DSL connection, and used Firefox with the free DownThemAll add-in to download the whole lot overnight.  The next morning, I checked that all the files were there, then I rebooted (for a nice clean system), disconnected internet connection, temporarily disabled antivirus, and ran the executables.  All extracted and installed perfectly.

Seriously, the process was about as easy as it could be.  If you're having problems and didn't do everything I mentioned above, it's hardly CW's fault.
