    Never realized he shares the same name as the 16-time World Champion dart player (who's in his mid-50's).  Philthy looks like he lived 80+ years actually!  Who's next?

    Sad loss indeed.
     
    It could reasonably be argued that Motorhead's early output, and in particular Phil's signature powerhouse drum style, were a significant step along the way to the onset of thrash and speed metal.

    Well that sucks but not really surprising. Dude was an absolute lunatic and likely lived much harder than Lemmy.
     
    IMO his playing was probably far more influential on hardcore punk (and thrash metal) than any other drummer. Raw, violent, smashing.
     
    Not sure what happened between him and Mister Kilmeister to sever the relationship but I did prefer his drum sound over the fellow from Dokken... who is pretty godlike himself but certainly not as raw and maniacal. He still does an awesome job though. Just kind of hard to exude complete and utter lunacy when you still have a few marbles left.
