Motu 828 mk3 whistles or beeps...drop outs..not only in Sonar

I keep getting these, well, whistles would best describe them or beeps. very high pitched and all other audio stops.  Very inconsistent. Sometimes only when I click while somethigs playing, sometimes just once or twice some times it goes on for several minutes. I thought it was Sonar but then it happen in itunes with Sonar closed. So I was thinking its the Motu but..idk...anyone? PLEASE

Are you using any demo effects or softsynths? Sometimes they put beeps or noise in them so you can't use them without paying for them.

This has been an issue with motu stuff for a long time....not everyone has it.

Try turning off your internet connection if you haven't already. Also, if for any reason you can use the "waveRT" setting in the motu setup window, try that.

Just to make sure,  do you have any wireless network active on that PC?  Even if its Disabled in the device manager,  it can still cause problems.  So disabling it in the BIOs or taking out the wireless pci card, if applicable, is something you should do.

Are you using a good TI chipset FW controller?
Are you running the latest MOTU drivers?
Have you checked your system's DPC latency?
If you're running Win7, have you changed the Firewire contoller driver to "Legacy Mode"

Yeah, I remember all that. For me (mac or PC) I always had to disable the net connection when I had my traveler.

What operating system? I should have asked that first as win7 and vista would be the only operating that can use waveRT http://www.motu.com/newsi...upport-is-now-shipping

The Firewire controller you use is absolutely critical to achieving rock-solid performance.
If you're using anything other than TI (Texas Instruments), that's likely the problem.
So... What Firewire controller are you using?  Check in Device Manager.
If you're using the stock motherboard controller, I can tell you it's not a TI chipset unit.

In the vast majority of posts from folks having problems with a Firewire audio interface...
Almost every time the end user is not using a good TI chipset Firewire controller.
If you're here for a good while, you'll see this same basic post time and time again... with the same solution.

Hey everyone, as an MK3 owner, I was confronted with the same problem. An article on this blog gave me the solution, hope it works for you! It definitely worked for me.
It all has to do with the optical inputs/outputs.

Good luck!
