Mouse Alt+Wheel zoom in drum and controller panes issue

This was mentioned several times on the forum, but i didn't find dedicated thread for it.
Why do I believe it should be in "Problem Reports", and not in "Features & Ideas"? The reason is this.
Add midi track, open Piano Roll View. Alt+Wheel zoom is working (I use "Simultaneous Horizontal and Vertical Zoom", if not it is Ctrl+Alt+Wheel). Enable View->Show/Hide Drum Pane in PRV. Alt+Wheel zoom stops working in Notes pane too, and it doesn't work in Drum pane, Notes pane, and Controller pane. Disable Drum pane, and it works again (only on Notes pane). It couldn't be desired behavior, so maybe it is not a bug, but it is definitely bad implementation, that should be fixed, and not a feature, that could be implemented, or could be not.

In a nutshell what you are saying is that the wheel zoom key combination is working in piano roll, but not drum, controller or notes pane?

If so what would determine this being a bug or not is if it worked in previous versions of Sonar, or if a Baker makes a comment about it... and whether other people can confirm the issue.

I reported three behavioral inconsistencies between the Notes pane and the Drum pane (including the right-click dragging up/down on the PRV time ruler for vertical zooming that worked in the Notes pane but didn't in the Drum pane at that time) back in the X3 period, and received the following reply from a Baker:

"As far as current implementation goes, the right-click on the time ruler to vertically zoom as well as the keyboard shortcuts with mouse wheel are not intended to vertically scroll the drum grid pane. I have logged your report as a good design suggestion though since I can see how it is inconsistent."

Although the reply only mentions vertical zooming, I also included the horizontal zooming as part of the issue in the report. The right-click zooming in the Drum pane was later implemented (thanks Bakers!), but the vertical/horizontal zooming with the mouse wheel has remained unimplemented to this day.

So I posted a FR recently:

Well if we don't hear from the OP soon suggest this gets locked.

I don't know what can be added to it.
It seems that it is already reported, and Cakewalk doesn't admit it as an issue.
I don't agree with that, but it doesn't matter.
I hope that this feature will be implemented sooner or later.

If cake has already said that it is not an issue, then there's no point for this to be in the Problem Reports forum.

If it is not an "issue" (i.e. bug) then it is certainly worth investigating as a suggestion for improvement.  It is a bit frustrating for some of us that the mouse wheel doesn't function the same in the Clips, Piano roll and Drum panes/views.  Pane/view-specific mouse wheel functions are probably acceptable if there is considerable value in them, however, this benefit must be weighed against the constant confusion and re-learning required for panes/views are only used occasionally.  Since there are so many of these panes/views I submit that almost all users will be a casual user of one or another of these.  Therefore, I would come down on the side of a universal functionality for the mouse wheel.

    Cheers,
