Move samples location for Rapture?
I now have a new DAW and three separate hard drives for my programs, samples and audio. I have loaded up my directories on the samples drive for Beatscape, Dimension Pro, RealStrat and BFD2 so far. I notice however that I was not given the option to direct the loading of my Rapture libraries and they have ended up on my C drive under my Cakewalk > Rapture directory. I have also installed the Muz3um and PatchArena programs and samples and they also redirected themselves to my C drive without presenting an option. My two questions are; Are the patches installed by default into the Rapture directory for a reason and should I leave them there? Secondly, If no to the above, I would like to move them to my samples drive on my DAW, for both organisational as well as performance purposes, how do I redirect Rapture to the new locations? edit: for clarity

So there wasn't any prompt for a custom samples location. Now there are many expansion packs available and you might be finding your Rapture Multisamples rather large. What you need to do is create a Multisamples string within your Rapture registry. See instructions here: http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.asp?m=825330&mpage=1&key= - Click Start | Run, type regedit and hit enter - Navigate to the following folder: HKLM\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\Rapture - Create a new key/string titled "Multisamples Folder" - Enter the value of your custom samples HD location where you want to store Rapture's Multisamples - Save your settings and restart Rapture Both the Muz3um and PatchArena BotM installers will look for a custom Multisamples string in the registry. If it can't be found they default to Rapture's default Multisample location.

I have just installed Muz3um and PatchArena BotM in a new Rapture installation, but after having created the registry key. The multisamples were installed anyway in the default location instead of the one pointer by the reg key (but Rapture is looking anyway correctly in the right location, so I guess that the reg key is correct). BTW little problem, I simply moved the multisamples in their proper location. Just to say that something is not right in the installers maybe... The patches are simply amazing (especially BotM for me). - Mario

I have added several expansion packs for both Rapture and DimPro and every single one of them has installed the multisamples and programs to the standard default filepaths, which for me was the correct place for the programs but the wrong place for the multisamples. Each time I needed to move the files after running the installation.

I realize this information is available via various resources (thank you Bob [techead]), but what we need is a definitive .pdf download with instructions on how to move all files associated with Dimension Pro, Rapture, and the other Cakewalk synths, including detailed instructions on how to make the registry entries. That's something I'd be printing out and binding.

I've fixed the issue, before I replace the file that is live for download if you want to test the new installer you can grab it HERE. I'm glad you enjoyed the patches. - Chad

Ok, I tested the latest setup; I think there's still something to adjust: I have both Rapture and RaptureLE installed, and the registry tweak is only for Rapture. I chose to install for both synths and, while it was as expected for Rapture, I could not find RaptureLE multisamples in its default folder (I was expecting them there since I haven't added the reg key for RaptureLE). And indeed RaptureLE reports error when opening some patcharena programs. So, I guess either: 1) RaptureLE multisamples are installed at the same location as Rapture ones 2) RaptureLE multisamples are not installed at all - Mario

I'll second that request for at least a sticky and hopefully a PDF on all this Multisamples movement.

I think this is going to help my problems, also. I'll try to sort out the registry problems tomorrow. BTW, can this be done for Beat Fetish? I got a freebie from Cakewalk but it also only defaults to the C drive. Strange, 'cause all the proteus stuff I got with SONAR 8 installed right into Dimension Pro with no problem. Thanks
