Moving Plugins?

Is there a good way to move plugins from one place to another without screwing things up?

I am trying out other DAWs in case the unthinkable happens. Everything I have, I just accepted the default location on install and they got stashed all over the place. It would be really handy to consolidate them all together. As it is, I am having to go on a hunting expedition to find them.

Some will move without issues, others will not.  It's hit and miss.
That's why I always choose my own directory, off of my C Drive,
    for plugin installations...

That is true if one just moves the folders often because registry entries used by the plug-ins are not updated.
If I were to perform this type of consolidation, after moving a plug-in directory tree, I would create a directory junction back to the original location. This would avoid the need to update the registry because the plug-ins could still resolve their registry entries. This also insures future updates will be placed in the correct physical location for those plug-ins that keep track of where to install updates.

Which, I realize now, is what I should have done in the first place.

I could reinstall everything, but my concern would be having to get new authorizations too.
