Moving between versions of Sonar (Essentials -> Producer -> Essentials)
Hello.
I have been a Sonar Producer user since v4 and I am licensed for X1. I have PE installed on my desktop at home. I am trying to look for a way to collaborate (using Sonar) with my writing partner who does not have Sonar (and cannot afford the Producer version).
Was thinking of purchasing a couple of copies of Sonar Essentials (one for him, one for my laptop). We would use the laptop to record at our rehearsal space (using Essentials). He would then take this project (with audio) home where he would have Essentials installed on his desktop. He would mix and then we would go back/forth in Essentials until we were mostly happy with things. Then, ideally we could open the project in Producer Edition at my house and do more heavy-duty mixing/editing/etc to get a finished track.
My questions:
1. Does the above sound like a workable solution?
2. Will Producer open projects from Essentials without any problems?
3. Will Essentials open Producer files after they have been saved in Producer? (obviously all the plugins and such wouldn't be in Essentials, but just curious if it will open the project at least and allow us to do some overdubs in Essential after we have been through Producer).
Thanks in advance for your reply.
