Moving from X2 to X3

Having not used X1 or X2 much due to lack of time, I've now taken the plunge and bought X3 upgrade! Quick question whilst I'm not at my PC, am I able to transfer my X2 plug in and track templates over to X3 or do I have to start again?

Thanks all

You can copy them from your relevant X2 directory to your relevant X3 directory and use them.

However, it is recommended that you create new templates from scratch as there has been some wonky behavior noted that might be related to using templates from the previous version  (may have been fixed in a patch - not sure).

The X3 install will create new Track Templates and Project Templates folders, and you can copy whatever you wish from your X2 templates into these.

I do not know what structural differences there may or may not be between the 2 versions, but I would think that since Sonar is backwardly compatible, that you may be just fine (in theory).  I would not hang my hat on that though, without testing it out.

As far as your plugins, you just need to make sure whatever paths to those are included in the search path for the X3 Cakewalk Plugin Manager.

I did this recently without issue. Also colours and keyboard shortcuts imported just fine.
