Moving to Sonar Artist from X2

Considering moving to the new Sonar Artist (or Producer) from Sonar X2, but have a bunch of considerations.

Does anyone find if more stable ?"  My X2 is a disaster of crashes, but I love the interface and tools.

Can I import songs recorded with X2 into Artist/Pro... un mastered stuff that is partially complete ?

Can I use any of my existing/older plug ins/VSTs with Artist ?

Can I add plug ins after the fact that do not come bundled with Artist (but do come with the Professional version) like Percussion Strip ?

Appreciate any insights from users of the newer Artist/Pro vesions.

Platinum is super stable here. I do believe it's more stable than X2

You can open projects from X2 with no issues in the new Sonar

All of your existing VST's and future ones from Cake are usable

If X2 is disastrously unstable, it might be wise to try to explore the causes for that rather than just move to a new version. X2 was not a disaster for most users. Problems with your system or setup that are causing instability in one version may well be carried over to the new version. Of course a new version will mean installing most of your Sonar related files more or less from scratch. so if there is a problem with settings in the program that might miraculously cure the problem, but if that is the case so might reinstalling X2 from scratch again. But in that case you would still have X2 instead of the current version. If it turns out you still can't run the current version on your system, then at least you will be troubleshooting a supported version, and may be able to get some help from Cakewalk.

Thanks startab.  From what I have read across the web, Sonar (at least up to X3) has been riddled with crash issues..way too many reports of crashes and freezes out there to justify that perspective.  From my personal experience, it crashes way too much for my liking... and I have implemented every system adjustment I can find plus I have more than enough speed and memory on my PC also.  Having said that, I'm always open to suggestions as I'd gladly stick with X2 if I could stabilize it.  I am running Windows 7 BTW.

Interested to hear from anyone who has moved from Win 7 to Win 8.1 or Win 10 if that has shown any improvements or conversely if it has caused any issues with Sonar X2 ?
