Mr. Panup: Please report to the lobby.

A modest Mod request for the Mod Bod.

A little more contrast in the Tool Bars for those of us with low contrast eyes.  (White lettering similar to the SONAR X2 logo.)  I have beer money.

I'm sure he can do that.

Another issue I see by your screen shot your multidock is tucked under the control bar.

Mine does that too, especially when opening pre X1 projects.

    Graphics issue.

Please note I am not allowed to accept mod donations (as Bakers have stated in the past). I'm allowed to share mods for free. That's not a problem as long as it's fun enough and does not feel like work.
Let's not disturb Bakers with this subject!

Let me know if there are any other critical places to enhance. I could include more items in this mod while preserving normal SONAR looks. Ask help by mail if you need install help...

I always have a problem with the gray text on black background.

I wish they would hire at least one graphics designer with tri-focal glasses.

Panu, it's real subjective, but in my opinion, for clarity, nothing beats #FFFFFF on #000000.

    (Black on White)

However, when you invert it, it can be too intense for many folks, and I usually go for #222222 on #eaeaea, which I find to be very readable.

What you want to avoid is colors on opposite sides of the color wheel with similar brightness values.

The worst thing about much of SONAR's UI is the lack of contrast - color values where foreground and background have similar brightness levels (mostly mid-levels).

    This post probably wasn't helpful.

I got Duckbar installed and the Smart Tool Mod installed.  Looks much, much better.  Now, I need to do the entire Toolbar where the similar color text is on the dark background.

I find the same thing happening on the PC modules.  For example, the EQ - (Hybrid, Pure, E-Type, G-Type), the Compressor - (the print on the VU meter.)

Is this something I can do myself with Duckbar?

First aid for QuadEQ: open Mod Patcher again and apply some of the QuadEQ mods in from Add-ons category. You may also want to give a try for the main themes but they alter SONAR GUI more or less radically...

    PC-2A mods: http://www.sonarmods.com/...nloads;sa=view;down=66

Customize | Colors (Alt-C) and Customize | Runtime Colors (Ctrl-Alt-R) have more tweaking options than the normal SONAR Preferences | Colors dialog. Later I will add EXE Colors *) support for X2 - it's a holy grail to tweak Track View, Control Bar, Inspecto, Console View and Browser colors normally out of our control.
*) EXE Colors is a feature in Duckbar that changes SONAR interface colors by reading/writing the SONAR executable by using predefined tables for color locations. By combining mods, EXE Colors and normal color options it is possible to access literally every single pixel if the SONAR interface.

I am not a newbie here, though I rarely post.  I want to say, while it's great that Panup and others can do these mods, we really should be on CW to do them--or CW should hire Panup to do them.  These are useability issues and if there's something cosmetic like this that is clearly not a tremendous coding endeavor if Panup can produce them in hours after request, then CW should issue official patches to handle these things.  Clearly, grey on darker grey is not a good choice of color scheme and CW should handle that.

Rather than create a mod community, Sonar users should coordinate mail-bombing CW with necessary usability requests until they handle the situation.  How much could it cost to create an official mechanism to effect these changes that doesn't require removing them before other updates?  Why not farm the detail work out to Panup on an as-needed basis if they don't want to employ a body at the office?

This mod stuff is like the Android phone rooting community; messy at best.  Sonar users shouldn't have to go through this.  (Nothing at all against Panup.)

    One man's opinion.

Sonar Platinum (64-bit); many CW PC modules; endless plugins (most of which SPLAT doesn't list); Edirol PCR-800; Win10 Pro 64-bit; Focusrite Scarlett 6i6 interface; lots of hardware I don't actually use anymore; 1972 Rickenbacker 4001 bass (Chris Squire days); other basses, guitars, mics, etc.

No too promising Sonar Plus news now... :-/ I hacked SonarPlus.exe from 17 locations but it does not accept X2 executable. I continue hacking later but now it's SonarPlus 1, Panu 0.

TimV, if I fail to convert SonarPlus for X2, you can use Duckbar as an alternative utility to disable MultiDock and open windows with mouse clicks. Buttons can be fully customized and toolbar size can be changed by rolling the mouse wheel over the Move grip... http://www.sonarmods.com/...12/duckbar_toolbar.JPG

The eyes make it hard to see, not the size or color of the font...but thats the human condition...so we adjust...

I'm using SOnar Platinium on a 6 core Lynx Audio machine and a ton of vintage pre-amps/eq's/comps I build for fun and sometimes money, REDD.47/API/Neve I also use the UAD stuff, and also use a Macbook Logic 9 through Apogee...
