Multi Mix Confusion

Hi

a) I've set up a mix for the engineer (me) in X1.

b) I've also set up an entirely seperate mix for a vocalist :- I'm routing the sends on each track to a bus, and the output of this bus goes to the musicians headphones (entirely separate outputs away from the master output and the engineers ears).

c) Note for the vocalist track (I'm recording on) I've used the send assistant to create a reverb bus, and this bus just gets sent directly to the vocalist's mix bus (as explained in b). So now on I have two sends on this recording track, one for volume for the vocalist (Send 1), and one for the reverb for the vocalist (Send 2).

d) So now I have control for reverb and volume for the vocalists headphone mix.

My issue is

... when I adjust send 1 (volume), I have to adjust the effect as well (send 2). However I would like the effect to react in proportion to the volume (i.e. more vol = more effect, less vol = less effect).
I'm also wondering if I'm really going about things in an entirely efficient way here for headphone mixes!!!!
I'm not using the Focusrite zero latency option yet (want to work out this issue first)....

Thanks for your help in advance!

Set the output of each bus for the vocal(bus C for example) and fx(bus D) to another bus(bus E) which will output to the vocalist's headphones.  The right click on the fader for your bus C and select group(A) then same on bus D(group A).  Now moving the fader on bus C or D will move both equally.  You can adjust one independently by holding down the Ctrl key.

This set up should then take the Vocalists input from the Send into bus C and D, mix the dry signal received on C with the wet signal from D propotionally and output back to the headphones of the Vocalist through E.

Thanks Lorneyb2....! Of course grouping (doh!).

I keep forgetting I have an unlimited number of tracks. What I was doing was using all the send pots to send to one stereo bus and route the output of that single bus to the headphone mix.... Not even bothering with faders much.

Of course the easiest and best way is to send each track to an individual bus and then send each new bus to a seperate output bus for the final headphone mix. This makes lots more tracks, and I don't get my previous mix copied and pasted, but then there's full control over each mix... Also I can create specific screensets and hide away tracks/buses I don't care about for each seperate mix!!

Screensets are seriously powerful when I can hide tracks on a per screenset basis!

(Sorry been a little slow to twig!).

And I think I've finally sussed zero latency on focusrite - superb!

Yup, I've been singing their praises since they were introduced. They are IMHO one of the secrets to a really fast workflow in X1.
