Multi - function utility track

Morning all.
 
I was working on a project yesterday night and, doing loads of prog rock, I found myself wishing there was a more integrated way to visualize time signatures / tempo changes on the main window. I figured out that implementing a tempo track view in the ruler might be a pain, also because now, by open sourcing theme editing, the UI changes would be more complicated due to the expectations of the skinners (can I use that word?).
So how about having a multi - function track that you create, very much like an audio or a MIDI track, but contains lanes such as time signature, tempo map, markers, notes, etc?
By doing so you could move time sigs and tempo changes along with the clips right in the main window.
