Multidock and PRV grid resolution - What am I doing wrong?

I always keep the multidock maximized on a second monitor. I have the console, PRV, and event list open in the multidock. For some reason when I reopen projects the multidock is sometimes? minimized instead of maximized. I always save the project with it maximized.

Also, I keep the PRV grid resolution set to 1/16 notes but when a project is reopened it is set to 1/4 note resolution and I'm forced to change this every time I open a project.

Not sure if I have a setting wrong/missing or if it is just X1b weirdness but if anyone knows how to fix this annoyance it would be greatly appreciated. I have not applied any of the quick fixes, just using X1b.

Kind regards,
Rick

What happens when save it as a screenset reopen the project and load your saved screenset? Just saying, it might be a better workaround.

    Hi sharpdion23,

Sounds like an option but not necessarily a choice    I can give that a try tomorrow and see if it's a viable workaround.

If it does work I will probably not even use the multidock and just setup screensets for the console, PRV, and event editor. The tabed multidock is cool, wish I could figure out how to use it without the above issues...

    Thanks for the suggestion!

    Kind regards,
    Rick

Cake acknowledge there is a bug with PRV grid.  When I change the grid in PRV to say sixteenths and then set the snap to sixteenths the grid reverts to quarter. Which is a real pain in the fundamental orifice.  The grid always opens in quarters irrespective of what it or the screen set was saved at.  Lets hope the fix it in X1c.

    Hi WooKiee,

    Thanks for the reply.

I just spoke with Cakewalk tech support about both issues.

The tech was able to reproduce the PRV grid resolution issue. I asked if cakewalk was aware of the issue and if it would be addressed in an upcoming fix. He said that he didn't know if they were aware of it but he would bring it up and he had no idea if or when there would be a fix...

He could not reproduce the issue with the multidock being minimized upon reopening a project and suggested that I just use screensets as a workaround.

I have played with the issue of the multidock being minimized upon reopening a project and found another workaround. I don't understand it, but, it appears to work.

-I start with the window maximized
    -hit the Restore down icon
-grow the screen to the full window size
    -hit the maximize icon again
    -save the project

Now when I reopen the project the multidock comes back up full screen, sometimes maximized and sometimes in the restore down position but it is now full screen in both instances and never minimized... go figure.

    Now. back to work

Again, thanks for every ones help.

    Kind regards,
    Rick

When they acknowledged the bug with PRV grid they told me it had been submitted to development, sorry the reference number is on one of my other studio machines.

I just thought about your problem with the multidock do you move it to the other screen or do you undock it.  That is how I float it off to my second screen and to date, touch wood, I have not had the problem you describe.

    Hi Wookiee,

Thanks for the info on the PRV grid that makes me feel more confident that it will probably get fixed in X1C.

re: multidock - I undock it and then float it over to the second screen. Since I made the change described above it appears to be working OK now, at least it has not come up minimized (knocking on head...) I really enjoy having that multidock on the second monitor with my other views tabbed.

    Thanks again for your help.

    Kind regards,
    Rick
