Multipe PRVs in Sonar Plat
I've been attempting to open multiple Piano Roll Views concurrently in Sonar. I realize I can have e.g. the Console, PRV and Event List as tabs open at the same time, but I cannot figure out to get multiple PRVs. I would like to be able to switch between PRVs for the various instruments easily using tabs located next to each other. What am I missing? Thanks in advance!

Right-click the PRV tab in the mutli-dock and "Lock Contents" the next track will open in a new PRV. Repeat as needed.

Lock contents, as above, is also good to freeze a selection of controller lines in the controller pane, to avoid having to re-close them over and over. When you get several prvs open you may decide to minimize them .. a helpful discipline, since sonar is going to re-order your minimized icons anyway, is to open them top to bottom from the main track window. That way they will be minimized in a known order rather than annoyingly randomly. .. Sonar doesn't give any kind of tool tip or label to minimized prv windows, so you can't easily find the one you want again.

Not sure why you'd need to open multiple PRVs. I open as many tracks as I need in one PRV and click on the relevant button on the right to view whichever track(s) I want to work on. Or am I missing something?

One reason is to work around the fact that the Controller Pane becomes unmanageable and in some extreme cases inaccessible when the tracks contain Continuous Controllers. Take a look at the screenshot example in this post: http://forum.cakewalk.com/FindPost/3281008

And another reason is to quickly display only a specific group of instruments in the view and efficiently edit them without affecting, or being distracted by, other groups of instruments. You can, for example, display only violins in one PRV, only violas in another, only percussion instruments in another, and so on. Changing the views requires only one click of a tab. Lock the content and lock the Screenset, and you'll see how convenient the feature is.
