Multiple Cue Mixes for Bands
Hi there
As the title suggests, I'm needing some ideas in respect of Multiple Cue Mixes for several band members. What I'm looking for, is a way to tailor each recipients cue mix to suit their preferences, even if this means 4 different cue mixes. I'm sure many of you have done this by various means - successfully.
What I am able to do, is make my required cue/submixes in RME's Total-Mix and route them to my RME MultifaceII's stereo paired outputs.
However, my issue is how to get those individual mixes from my RME MultifaceII's outputs to band members' headphones. My Samson S-Phone 4 channel headphone amp cannot achieve this due to having just 1 set of stereo inputs, thus, only accommodating one stereo mix, making my Total-Mix submixes useless. Although the Samson S-Phone has 4 channels (each with 3 headphone ouputs), the only independent tweakability I have in differentiating them is pan and volume (globally). Each channel has a "more me" aux but this would only enable a listener to have more of one channel with its volume and pan being controlled in Total-Mix.
Do any of you folks get on okay getting adequate cue mixes to different performers using something like a Samson S-Phone or something similar? Do let me know, please.
What I was considering was a Furman
HDS-6 (in place of the Samson) along with several
HR-6 personal monitoring mixers (with 2 headphone outputs). What the deal here is, that 4 individual tracks say Vocals, Guitar, Bass and Drums can be routed from an audio interface's outputs to the HDS-6's 4 inputs. These 4 tracks are then routed to several daisy-chained HR-6's (8 max) which are connected using 2 ethernet cables. The performer can alter their own submix to their taste.
What are folks' opinions on the above two set ups? Am I perhaps taking the cue mix monitoring flexibility thing too far with the Furman setup? Should I tell people to make do with the "more me" flexibilty the Samson has?
