Multiple Input Effects and Sonar 7 Studio [Solved]

Hi all,

I'm using the demo version of Schwa SchOPE to see if I want to buy. You can see the product by clicking on this link.

It's essentially a frequency and stereo image analyzer. One of its selling points is that it has four input channels (each with a corresponding color which displays on the screen).

However, I can't seem to find a way to utilize the third and fourth channels. I am able to get a stereo input to utilize the first two inputs but that's all I can do.

I've tried putting it on an effects/bus track. This does expose an alternate input, but I can't get any sound to go through (perhaps it's simply treating it like a sidechain input).

Does anyone have experience working with multiple input effects and Sonar? Or is it something that isn't possible to do except when used for sidechaining?

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks!

I did get the SchOPE to begin working. The first two inputs are on automatically, but I didn't realize that you have to manually turn on the second two inputs. D'oh!!

To utilize all four inputs, you do indeed have to set up a side-chain.

In Sonar, you insert the SchOPE as an effect on a bus/effect track. Route one audio track to this bus. If it is a stereo track, it will display on the first two inputs on the SchOPE.

Now, if you pick another audio track and look at the list of outputs, there will be a new output (called "SchOPE (Input 2)" on Sonar). This is the sidechain input. If you route a stereo track to this and click on the green and blue buttons on the front of the SchOPE (this is what I was missing before), the frequencies for this track will now show up. Note that you won't hear any audio for this second track.

The forum at Stillwell has a few tips on how to use it. If you want to monitor kick drum and bass guitar on the same screen, you can route two mono tracks (e.g. pan the drum to the righ and the guitar to the left) and then listen and frequency monitor on the first two inputs on the SchOPE.

Anyway, it's pretty cool. I could see this being useful. Hopefully, my description might help anyone else having trouble with it.

instead of using the output of a track for the input in SchOPE could u use a SEND instead? that way u could still monitor the track while watching the adjustments you're making at the same time? or if the send won't go directally to schope maybe send to a track that outputs to it i.e:

set up BUS1-SchOPE1 (output to shope1), BUS2-Schope2 (out to schope), etc.
then use sends on ur tracks to those buses.

this way u could even do submixes of sorts...all guitars into SchOPE1 (blue), all drums into SchOPE2 (red), etc...or whatever the colors are
