I've installed Loop MIDI as suggested and have had partial success. Scenario as follows:
I would like to have track "Violin1" trigger the SI-String Section soft synth, TTS-1 soft synth, and my Roland XP80 (via focusrite interface) at the same time and be able to easily switch between them by using mutes.
Violin1 - input = focusrite; output = LoopMIDI; channel = 1
SI-String Section - input = LoopMIDI ch 1; output = Master
Cakewalk TTS-1 - input = LoopMIDI ch1; output = Master
Track 4 - input = LoopMIDI ch1; output = focusrite MIDI; channel = 1
Results:
To start, SI-String section was acting way strange. I had to delete it and then things worked better. Maybe a problem with the synth, maybe a problem with LoopMIDI, maybe a problem with me. Don't know which yet. For now, I'll ignore it.
TTS-1 worked mostly as expected. Played back the recorded violin1 track. Mutes worked. Input echo has to be enabled, though. Sometimes stopping playback left a stuck note. Sometimes it didn't. Sometimes a note hit the articulation and immediately cut off - this didn't happen to the same notes consistently on different playbacks though.
Track 4 (used to trigger Roland keyboard) didn't work so well. If input echo was enabled, or if Track 4 was selected, the Roland would trigger. Mute did not mute either way. If the selection left Track 4 or if input echo was turned off in mid-playback, I was left with a stuck note. If mute was not enabled, the volume fader worked as expected. If mute was engaged, the volume fader had no effect and the track played back at full volume.
Thoughts?
