Multiple STaudio C-Ports, Anyone?

This setup seems great if I could understand how it is all supposed to work, and work with Sonar.

I've got it up and running, now just trying to understand how to handle it all in Sonar (inputs, outputs, what drivers I should use, audio settings, monitoring, etc). I know that's a lot of questions all rolled up into one, but I'm looking for any possible advice/tips/tutorials that might help me understand this all.

tia,

I used to have 3 Cports lashed together for a a 24-channel solution. I always had sync issues because of poor device driver enumeration. Dropping down to 2 Cports was more reasonable, understandable, and controllable. In Sonar under XP the names of inputs weren't done as nicely as they were under Win98, but at least everything worked.

All of this was done with the last of the ST Audio drivers. I sold my extra Cport before the new ESI drivers were done, so I'm only running one right now. I'm using the new ESI-written driver release RC4. I remember reading somewhere in the ST Audio forum that the new ESI drivers don't have multicard support in place yet.

By the way, I'm rationalizing my three DAWs to all use MOTU products. When I needed a 24-channel solution that was guaranteed to be hassle-free, a MOTU 24i/o was the logical (expensive) choice. After that, the remote DAW needed more than 16 channels so a MOTU 24i went in there (less money, but still pricey). Now my home DAW is getting a (good price) MOTU 1224, so the Cport currently in there will be for sale about a week from now.
