Multiple controll surfaces in X1
I've been tinkering with this for quite a while. I have a piano. A Roland RD-150. For wich I have a INS file. Meaning if I select the RD-150 over my Roland UM-880 I can have remote controll over the used patch. From within Sonar. So I connect the audio to my Roland SI-24 to a dedicated pair and voila.
I allso have a Roland SI-24 it controlls Sonar (7) 32bit on W7-64bit.
Besides this I own an Korg Kontrol49. It has it's own USB midi interface and can be controlled by ACT using an ACT profile.
Since I do not have enough midi cables the Roland RD-150 is only connected with one cable. And usually inputs are set to omni so whatever is controlled by the KONTROL49 is controlled by the RD-150.
Sooo. If I buy X1 and an extra MIDI cable. Will I get extra controll over different channels?
I'd like to controll Sonar's drum SD2 (or 3) machine with the drumpatches (of the KONTROL49) on channel 1
I'd like to controll a synth on channel 2 with the KONTROL49
I'd like to controll a piano (and alike) on channel 3.
I was setting this up but I saw manipulating a synth (from the sliders from the KORG), that the faders of my remote controll SI-24 did started to move. So that could ruin my automation and other settings in the sequence.
I had an old cable (5 pin DIN) added but that cable is probably broken so I'll throw that one away. (EDIT; after investigating the midi cable wiring; )midi is PIN 4 to 4 pin 5 to 5 and pin 2 to 2 where as old audio cable was crosswired meaning pin 4 could go to pin 2 wich is where my problem probably lies, I'll measure and rewire) Because audio started to stutter once I connected this cable between the SI-24 and the UM880 8x8 midi patchbay.
If everything is setup. Can I controll each channel by the different unit?;
1- So I highlight channel 1 (Cakewalk drummachine) and drum using the patches of the Korg
2- I highlight channel 2 synth and controll the synth with the KORG KONTROL49's keyboard and use the sliders and knobs to controll it's features?
3- I highlight channel 3 and use a piano VST remote controlled by my Roland RD-150?
Would this work or is only one keyboard allowed in Sonar X1? I assume I need to upgrade (I allso like that because the fat channel seems like a replacement for my UAD-1).
So is anything changed MIDI wise from SONAR 7 to SONAR X1?
EXTRA INFO;
I upgraded to a Quadcore & W7-64 bit. Doing so I lost remote controll over R-BUS since the latest driver does not support this. So I use my UM-880 to the MIDI I/O of the SI24 to still have remote controll. The SI-24 can be used together with the Cakewalk supplied SI24.dll. (Since Cakewalk Sonar 3).
