Multiple crashes on August update!

Multiple crashes with the new update!  I used it for maybe 15 minutes & rolled back.  I had a client with me so didn't have time to troubleshoot.  The final straw was when I tried to bounce a melodyne clip.  It crashed & when I restarted, Sonar wouldn't open the project.  After 4 or 5 tries I gave up.

I originally had this on the "SONAR 2016.08 Update Now Available" thread.  I got an email to repost on a new thread & list more details.  I don't have any more details but tomorrow I'll reload the August update before my session.  I'll post back with any news.

Here are the details of my system:

AMD FX 8350 with 16 gigs of Ram.  Solid state drive for software & dual Raid drives for storage.  MOTU 2408 mk3 interface.  Sonar Platinum software.

I'm having more crashes than before.  Quite a few when bouncing tracks (similar to you?) - hangs, then a few seconds later crashes. It says that a report is sent, so I hope something comes of it. (CW: what happens to these?)
My PC is man enough and there are no changes at all to my setup. The only variable is the latest update.  When I get the odd crash I used to shrug and move on, but this week I'm feeling an ebbing of confidence.

I reinstalled the August update.  I had a 3 hour session with it & thought everything was OK.  Then it crashed as I was saving the project.  I'll give it one more chance today but I'm not feeling confident about this update.

Just wondering...have you updated Windows lately? There was a major update not long ago.

I'm having similar problems with crashes.  I upgraded to Win10 about 3 weeks ago and it's set for auto updates (of course).  I am thinking I will just do a clean Sonar install and see if that helps.  I have Sonar on a Win 10 laptop as well and it is ROCK solid......never a crash. I've actually stopped trying to work in Sonar until this is resolved. Random crashes mean I have to save my project every 5 minutes in order not to lose (too much) work.  Not a way to help creativity.

I haven't updated Windows lately. It's not an easy task for this studio. Are you talking about a major update for Windows 7? That's what I'm running.

i would believe they are referring to windows 10, the days of windows 7 getting any update let alone a major one are gone

i have disabled updates on my windows 10 machines (both pro and home) for now not letting them update past 1511 which i believe was the last before the major anniversary update and sonar seems to work fine, but i don't use it that much since i swiched daws, i did have 1 white out in the first 15 minutes or so after the latest update, but nothing more since then

I did a "Fresh Windows 10 Install to SSD" and so far has been "rock solid" on my desktop! Before I had so many files along with Sonar going back to the earlier 8.5 I'm always concern with every program I download. Sonar runs incredibly well, very low latency and I haven't had a lockup since Win_7, but it might have also been so many years of adding this and that? As most "everything is backed up".

Hmmm...... fascinating. Mind letting us know exactly when those Windows 7 update days ran away?? 'Cause, as of August, I'm still updating Windows 7.........

well I may well be wrong, but I was under the impression that any major updates for windows 7 were no more and perhaps only security updates were being pushed, as I said I may be mistaken. I dropped windows 7 when 10 was released and have updates disabled on all pc's after 1511 release.

Mainstream support for Windows 7 did end a while back ,you'll still receive security updates but as much as you might not want to see it, sooner or later it will be phased out as a system requirement.

Ehhhh.... Still getting non-security updates for Win 7 - last non-security updates dated 8/16/2016. By the time it is phased out as a viable OS for DAWs, I will either have switched OS (Mac, Win 10, Linux), or I'll be quite comfortable with my DAWs in their (then) current states.

    I'm not worried......
