Multiple i/o audio interface

I've been using the Cakewalk UA-25 EX with my HP dv7 laptop running X1b 64 bit with very little issue.  I want to be able to do some outside processing as Mr Anderton demonstrates in his Advanced Workshop video. I'm considering the Focusrite 8i6. Has anyone had any experience with this unit on a laptop?  And will this unit enable me to run a track thru an oustide processor while listening to that track and the main mix together? Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

Yes, the  Focusrite 8i6 has additional line outs and line Ins, so you can connect additional external gear to the uniit and for use with Sonar.
