Music Creator 4...recording

Hi

Don't know if anyone can help? I'm a complete novice who's written a little song that I would like to record, I have a Yamaha PSR 9000 keyboard with Music Creator 4 on my computer. I've already managed to lay down drum and base tracks as Midi... the problem I'm having is that when I try to record vocals on an audio track, as well as my voice being recorded it's also recording both midi tracks as well at the same time. I realise that muting both midi tracks leaves just my voice, but then I can't hear anything through my headphones as a reference for cues to begin singing. Is there a way of un-muting the midi so I can hear the drum and base tracks through the phones but without the sound being recorded on to the audio track with my voice? Any help would be really appreciated thanks...Bob

So Bob.... welcome... I love MC4. I used that program for the better part of 3 years.

Be sure you have your mic.... and the soundcard it's plugged into selected as the only input source for the vocal track.

BTW: what sound card are you using?

When the interface/soundcard is selected , only that source should be recorded into the new track. The input selected determines what is recorded and what is not. You can still monitor all the tracks but only the one source track gets recorded.

You could also bounce the midi tracks one by one.... to a new audio track... select the midi and select bounce to track. then mute the midi tracks or archive them.

Hi Herb...Thanks very much for the advice, I've finally got it sorted! You were right. I had multiple inputs to my sound card which was complicating things...I've never been that technically minded, even little things confuse me. lol....thanks again...Bob.
