Music Creator 5 stereo issues
I am pretty sure that it is just an option somewhere but I can't find it. When I record using PC with firewire, Ozonic sound card midi player, I only have a left side recording, with vocals and guitars and everything. I have the line in's properly hooked up and the lines out going to a stereo and speakers. But for some reason it only records on one side. Can anyone help me out.? thanks Al

Most of your tracks a MONO anyway...vocal, guitar, bass... so unless you have a true stereo instrument there is no need to waste the hard drive space by recording a mono instrument in stereo. I just happen to record to the left channel on my sound card as well. This does not preclude you from panning the signal right/left/center/ or some variation thereof. If you are only hearing it from one channel... and the panning is centered.... that's different. Let us know.

you probably have the STEREO input selected on your AUDIO track but you're recording a MONO input. choose the LEFT input instead of the STEREO input on your AUDIO track.

it doesn't matter. if you recorded a MONO signal using a STEREO INPUT then you will only have one channel playing when you play back. I've already told you what to do - did you try to do what I told you? If I go out and buy a new comp will I have to buy another copy of music creator 5....
did you download it? if so, can you get to the download file? if you bought a boxed version or if you downloaded it and you saved that download file off on a CD then just install it on the new computer and put the registration information in from when you registered it on the new computer. if you downloaded it and can't get to the download file, you'll have to contact cakewalk and tell them what happened and they will *probably* let you download it again. if you've lost your registration information, you just need to login to the e-store and it will have your registration number for you to put into a new install on the new computer.

I'm having a similar problem in that I'm only getting output to left channel. My tracks were recorded in stereo so with a centered Pan I should hear both channels but I don't. If I pan 100% to right I get no sound at all. The tracks worked fine with Cakewalk V5. Suggestions?

What do the tracks look like? Are the audio levels moving on both the left and right in the track, or just the left meter?

If there is only, say, a guitar plugged into the soundcard, it's not giving a stereo signal, so the recording takes place on the left channel only. If you have plugged in two microphones or you're using a soft synth with stereo output, it's another thing. Just give us a sufficient description of what you're doing.

did you try to do what I told the other poster above? a MONO signal will require a MONO input on the recorded track. if you look at the track view of that recorded waveform, the recording is only in the top half of the track. the bottom half of the track is empty. that means you've recorded a MONO signal using the STEREO input. if that's the case, you can separate the 2 channels into 2 MONO tracks and delete the empty one by highlighting the track and choosing CONVERT TO MONO.

When selecting the input, you must intentionally choose a mono input. Cake defaults to a stereo input and unless you change that to mono you will only get one side of the stereo spread on the default setting. By selecting either the left OR right side only, the input gives a mono signal that is centered and you are able to pan it right or left.
