Music Creator 6 Audio Problems
Hi all, I'm a rank amateur using Music Creator 6 so please accept my ignorance. I am having problems setting the audio output. I had it working with the INPUT set at OMNI and the OUTPUT set at MICROSOFT GS WAVETABLE SYNTH. When I opened up another audio track they disappeared and left me with INPUT - NONE and OUTPUT - MASTER. Can anyone advise me on how the restore OMNI and MICROSOFT GS WAVETABLE SYNTH and save them so as they don't change. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers, Bob

Welcome to the forum. Both 'Omni' and 'MS GS Wavetable Synth' or for MIDI tracks, not audio tracks. In the audio track you opened up, click the Input drop down arrow and select the input you want to plug your microphone or instrument into. There may not be anything listed until you plug something into it, depending on what Operating System you're using. What OS are you using? Are you using the computer's sound card or an external audio interface?

Hi Greg, Thanks for your reply. What I'm trying to do is bring in MP 3/4 files and convert them to MIDI. I then save the file as a Format 0 which will bring all the tracks into 1 track. I take this file into a program called MidiPunch. This will punch the music onto a paper roll, through a CNC punch machine, I then play the paper roll in my hand cranked buster organ. Following your suggestion above I opened a MIDI file and the input is OMNI, however, the Output is OUTPUT which won't give me any sound. The only Options in OUT are "New Drum Map" or "Drum Map Manager". I'm still not sure how I get the Output to be MS GS Wavetable Synth which will give me sound. I don't plug a mic in and I use the PC Soundcard. I'm using Windows 10 OS. The sound was OK when it was set to Omni and MS GS Wavetable Synth. Any suggestions you gave give me would be valuable. Cheers, Bob

Try changing the MIDI track's channel. If it's on 10, that's the MIDI standard default drum channel. How do you convert the audio to MIDI? I didn't think MC 6 had a tool that would do that.

When I open a MIDI file there may be 10 tracks and this changes to whichever track I click on. When I open the OUTPUT Tab I only get "new Drum Map" or "Drum Map Manager". At one stage I was able to get the OUTPUT to read "Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth" and the sound was OK. I can see the sound meter going up and down so I know the MIDI file is working, just no sound. Now I can't find where to change it, any ideas. Cheers, Bob

MIDI tracks only have the sequence information. No sound. Insert a synth (start with the TTS-1 Synth) Send the MIDI tracks to the synth track that you just inserted. Select a patch for the track to the sunth Set the output of the synth track to your sound card. TTS-1 is like the GM synth. It allows 16 inputs with distinct patches for each track.

Thanks for you help. I played around and I was able to find where I had set the Output previously. In Pereferences/MIDI/Devices/Outputs. Set it to Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth and I now have sound when palying a MIDI file. Now I need to work out how I change the track to "Ocarina" which is the closest sound to the organ. Any help as to where I can change the instrument would be valuable. Thanks so much for your help. Cheers, Bob

It's in the MIDI track pane, under Pch (patch), a holdover from when you had to literally patch cables to different jacks to change the sound of a synth.
