Music Creator 6 Tempo Delay problem
Hey folks, Im having an issue with the Tempo Delay effect for Music Creator 6. I use Windows XP 32 bit. The issue is that Im losing stereo seperation. For instance, I record a drum track. I start playing the track then I apply the Tempo Delay to the track. I set the Tempo Delay to the default patch. I can set the right channel to a certain delay time and the left channel to another time. I can hear the distinct delays in each ear in my headphones. So far no problem. Now if I stop playback and start it again, I still have the delay, but I'm losing the stereo seperation. I can hear the delays, but they are centered in the sound field. If I adjust the right or left channel delay time, the delay suddenly spring back into the correct right and left channels. I have never had this issue before. The problem occurs on every project that I have previously recorded also. I also renstalled the Tempo Delay plugin from the installation cd but that didnt fix the issue, but I wasnt sure if I needed to uninstall the plug in first. Wasnt sure how to do that. I have other delays I can use, but I really like the default Tempo Delay plugin and would prefer to use it in stead. Any ides on what the issue is? Should I try to reinstall MC6? Thanks!

I don't think it is an installation gone bad issue.... so no, at this time, I would not re-install it. I have not used the tempo delay so I'm not in the loop on that one. I'm thinking it has something to do with the settings that MC applies upon a stop. Maybe it resets the tempo delay to it's default..... because when you tweeze it, it suddenly works again. I'd look into the settings and another thought..... did you do a "save as preset" on the delay? I will very often open one of the FX and pop it in a track. It always comes in at default. I tweeze it, name it and save it so I can then click to the preset I want..... then it works on the preset setting all the time. keep us posted....

first, I agree with Herb that reinstalling would not fix this issue. I think that would be a waste of time. but on your problem, I'm not understanding this comment: "Now if I stop playback and start it again, I still have the delay, but I'm losing the stereo seperation. I can hear the delays, but they are centered in the sound field." I cannot imagine how you could have the delay without stereo separation, so this is confusing to me how it would do this. the VST basically sends one channel later than the other channel, so I'm not clear how you can get an echo which is "centered"?

EDIT : Well I think I figured it out. It seems that I was using tempo sync and I guess I didn't know exactly how that would affect the signal. Seems to be WAD. Thanks for the the help none the less! Thanks for the replies! As for the delays being centered, this is exactly what is happening. For instance, if I start playback and I set the right channel delay time at 100ms and the left channel delay time at 200ms I can hear the dinstict delays in their proper right and left channel. If I then stop playback and then start again, I can still hear the two different delays. However they are not split into left and right channels. I hear both delays simultaneously at dead centre. There is no seperation into left and right channels. If I then, say, tweak the right channel to 150ms, then both channels suddenly spring back into their left and right seperation. I also tried saving patches and using the preset patches and I still get the same issue. I am thoroughly perplexed. I used this program for months and this is the first time this happened. It's probably some incredibly stupid mistake I am making but can't figure out. On a side note, not sure if this has anything to do with it, but, I seem to recal if I took a preset patch and tweaked it a bit that beside the name of the patch in the display there used to be an " * ". I always assumed that meant I had made changes to a preset patch. I am not seeing this " * " anymore beside the name of the patch whenever I tweak it. Could this be related? Thanks again!

I tried it with SONAR Home Studio 6 earlier today. I set the R/L delays to different values and could hear the difference. Every time I clicked play it worked correctly, but, I then bounced the track to 2 mono tracks to see what would happen, and the delay was identical in each bounced track instead of the seperate delays in the original track. Weird. I don't know why it did that...
