Music Creator 6 VSTi Issue

Hi Everyone

I just purchased Music Creator 6 got it all installed and running fine but I am having a little issue with my VSTi.

I installed my copy of NI Absynth 4 and it was quite happy to install itself by default into the Cakewalk VSTi folder and upon launch of MC6 it scanned the folder and picked up Absynth fine. It then appears in the Synths panel and lets me add it as an instrument channel and the interface popped up and it was all happy. I continued to add some notes to the notes grid and the sound responded fine and instantly. I then made a quick melody and hit the playback button and it began to play however only some of the notes play back and upon watching the Absynth window it seems MC6 is not sending all of the notes to Absynth  Am I doing something wrong here as I am completely new to the software but if it is going to be like this its completely useless to me!

Cheers

James.... welcome to the MC world....

Try going in to the settings page and increase the midi buffers a bit. Sometimes that will solve the skipped notes thing.

My guess is that you are using a factory soundcard to playback the music. If you want the best performance levels possible, you will likely want to purchase an audio interface with USB connectivity and using ASIO drivers. With a good interface, the experience in Music Creator will be sheer joy.

Most of us long time users all have some sort of interface because the factory cards just do not cut it when you are trying to record a song with several tracks and a few synths. Synths especially, when you have a few in the tracks, will start to show the deficiencies of the factory cards pretty quick...... clicks, pops, dropped notes, audio engine crashes, and latency.

But for now..... have fun, explore it, play with it, increase the buffers and see how it does for you. Come back here if you have more questions.

    Thanks for a quick response!

*bangs head on table* why did i not think of that! Hooked up my NI Traktor Audio 2 i use for DJ'ing in ASIO mode and boom all notes play without increasing the midi buffer! Thanks sooooo much!
