Music Creator 6 and Sampling Plugin
I am a fan of the Roland D-50. And as hard as I try, I don't seem to find a satisfying VST plug in replica of these classic 80's sounds. Then it hit me, perhaps I can sample them. So, my question, does anyone know if there is a sampling software that works with MC6, perhaps as a VST plugin?

You may already have one. Look to see if you have Cakewalk's DropZone sampler/sample player in your list of VSTis.

You can also record the midi track data using the D-50 to input it.......and send it back OUT to the D-50 and record the audio output back to an audio track. No sampling required. Instant perfection.

Thank you both. I don't see that I have DropZone. I checked available VST's in MC6 and didn't see it. Also, I searched my hard drive for any file containing 'zone' in it, no luck. Is there a way to install this VST?
Guitarhacker: I have a Lexicon Lambda device. Can I connect the D-50 to the LL using a midi cable to input data? I suppose then I connect the line out from the D-50 to the line in on the LL to create an audio track, does this sound right?

I don't think DropZone is available seperately. "connect the D-50 using a midi cable to input data? I suppose then I connect the line out from the D-50 to the line in to create an audio track" That's how I do it with my Yamaha PSR-GX76. You might want to ask about samplers in the Software or Techniques forum. Or maybe the Cakewalk Instruments forum.

yeah that should work. I don't use my midi stuff that way but it will work that way, its just that I do things a bit differently.

Thank you all for taking the time. I'm considering an upgrade to Sonar X3, which I think may have dropzone in it. Meanwhile, I'll click some of those links above.

Are you looking to sample a Roland D50 that you own or have access to;then use the samples to make your own sounds with a software sampler? If this is the case, you can record with any audio editor- with a number of free ones being available. You can also use any DAW to do the same thing, but they may not have all the tools of an audio editor. I wouldn't bother with Dropzone as a sample player- which came with earlier versions of Cakewalk programs. It's simply a SFZ player that also let you load single samples across the keyboard range, but you can't design multi-sample programs with it.
