Music Creator 6 and Studio Instruments

I have inserted Instrument Studio as a synth in Music Creator 6 and have a MIDI keyboard which I can use to play different drums in the drum kit from the Instrument Studio.  If I arm the track in Music Creator 6 and click record and press the keyboard I can record some beats into the Music Creator 6 track.

Ok, well I want to use the patterns, because I'm no good on drums, let alone playing them through a keyboard. So, I've selected four patterns I like in the four patten boxes which I then click to play as the recording is being done.

Unfortunately, arming a track and clicking record in the same way, doesn't seem to record the pattern being played when I click it in the pattern sequence boxes. It's ok pressing keys on the keyboard, but not on the pattern boxes themselves. What I'm I doing wrong?

What I'm having to do at the moment is record it as audio, which is a real problem because it means I have to stop all the other audio tracks playing so it doesn't record them as well!

Anyway help appreciated!

Ok. I've worked this out. It seems you have to open up the MATRIX VIEW and drag and drop a sample from the actual sample list from any of the intruments. Then, from the matrix view you can drag and drop this onto the track transport which has been set up for your synth! Shame you can't just play the patterns to make them sound more "human" but the samples are so good that's a very very small point

yes, you can use the matrix view, or you can just drag and drop the loops onto a MIDI track with the output of the MIDI track set to SI Drums.  you can't, however, "record" what's coming out of SI drums on an audio track, that's not the way it works.

I would suggest you work thru the tutorials in the help files.  and MC6 came with some low quality videos for help as well.  I don't remember if there were any specifically on SI Drums or not, tho.

Yep... it's drag and drop. Also you can "spread" the midi pattern over a number of measures with a simple drag of the mouse.

It's worth learning about this if you plan to use the SI drums.
