Music Creator 6 and soft syths

I've checked the support docs and couldn't find the answer. Are you limited to only 8 instances of Dim Pro (or any other soft synth) in Music Creator 6? I don't recall any such limitations in Project5. Am I doing something wrong in MC6(Touch 8-64). I have 6Gb of RAM installed. TIA,

Yeah, I do believe there is an 8 synth limit in MC (all versions)

THe work around is to bounce the synth to audio and then use that synth for a new track.

You could also upgrade to X1 or X2 essentials and that will give you more than 8 plus more inputs become available..... MC limits you to 2 inputs.

I worked with MC from years before I got a great deal to cross grade to X1essentials.

    hope that answers the question.

Okay thanks. I was afraid of that limitation. And, I think I'm freezing the softsynth instead of bouncing or freezing the track as I did in P5. Where I never ran into a softsyth limit. Have a set the Freeze parameters incorrectly? Thanks for the upgrade tip also. I did upgrade to Sonar 6 and Sonar 8. But my PC wasn't up to the challenge. Is X2-a resource hog?

Everything has a limit.... just that some are higher then others.

Freezing a synth doesn't remove it from the synth rack where all the synths in the project are installed. In MC, that rack has room for 8 VSTi's .... frozen or not.

That's why bouncing to audio is the workaround solution. That frees the connection between the synth and the audio.... so you can now use that synth for a new track.

Remember that you can do this:  After the bounce, simply change the output of the midi source to NONE. then "hide" the midi track. You can always unhide it if you need it back.  The synth stays in the rack until you manually delete it, so you can simply add a new midi track, set it up to work with the synth and you're ready to go on the next track after changing the patch or the sample the synth will play in the new track.  I can't tell you how many times I have done that very thing.....

Just so you know, MC 6 being a 32-bit program can only utilize 3-4 GB of RAM regardless of how much RAM the computer has.
Another reason to upgrade to one of the 64-bit X programs.
