Music Creator 6 touch crackels and pops

Hi all, i just purchased Music Creator 6 touch from the cake store setting up a little recording setup for a friend, the laptop is: Acer aspire 7741z-4643, Win 7 professional 32bit, Intel Pentium p6100 @ 2.00ghz p6100 @ 2.00ghz Duo core 2, 4Gig ram, 500gig internal sata hd.
I setup this laptop just for audio, disabled wireless and other stuff recommended on a few other sites including Avid. The Audio interface is M-audio Fast track w the latest win 7 drivers.
So anyway this setup is for a friend that just wants to track ideas something simple, so i got this software since its perfect for what they need, except when the buffer for the fast track is set to 128 MC6 touch crackles  when vi's are used or a few audio tracks, when i set it to 256 it seems better, but don't like the latency.
Is there a setting in MC6 that can fix this?
Just out of curiosity to make sure its not the Laptop i installed Reaper 4, and Pro Tools 8 MP and both allowed the buffer to be lowered to 128 with no crackling or pops.
So i'm baffled as to why MC6 can not? Any help would be great, i would hate to think i wasted $50.00 on a program that i cant get to 128 buffer when the others on the same laptop do.
Thanks,
Tommy

Upping the buffers is usually the first advice. However, that introduces latency as you have discovered.

You can try changing the drivers to MME or one of the others that may be available. Some folks find satisfaction using ASIO4ALL, but that is simply a wrapper that fools the program into thinking it has a real ASIO driver....and it's not quite as good as the real thing, obviously.

The better option, if you plan to do any sort of serious recording over a longer time would be to purchase a dedicated music only interface which runs native ASIO drivers. The sound card in the laptop is not capable of delivering the performance that Sonar products are capable of. Even, as you have discovered..... the so called "entry level/beginner" program MC6. MC6 is quite capable and if run with an ASIO based interface will exceed your expectations when it comes to performance. Almost everyone here is using an aftermarket interface with great results.

Are you using the ASIO driver for your Fast Track?

Dang... I totally missed that fast track interface... ignore me... everyone else does....

Yup... be sure you are using the ASIO driver since it was designed to run on that the best.

    Thanks Greg...for catching that.

Thanks guys, yep using latest asio driver, also this interface (M-audio Fast Track) has been used on many computers Mac and Pc over the years and has worked flawless even on older pc's, Whats weird is that it works great with Reaper4, and Pro Tools 8 mp?
When i move the buffer to 256 then it works with out crackles. Im baffeled, i know damn well if i load Sonar 8.5 its going to work at 128buffer, it has to be MC6. 256 buffer is to high to track guitars through a sim

Screw it, im going to load Sonar 8.5 to see if it works at 128 buffer, will report back soon.

I'd send an email to support with the details. If the older Sonar stuff runs fine..... MC6t should run fine as well.
