Music Creator Pro 24 - Can't open a *.cwb project file
Hello, everyone... I am unable to open a *.cwb file in Music Creator Pro 24. A message appears -- "CWMC.EXE has encountered a problem and needs to close. For more information about this error, click here." After clicking on that link, another window opens up and some extremely technical jargon appears. The only thing that's familiar is a reference to Miroslav Philharmonik -- "ModName: philharmonik.vpa". The file used an instrument patch from that sample library. I think the problem may have to do with the fact that I recently replaced a hard drive that crashed. I re-installed Cakewalk Music Creator Pro 24 and also the Miroslav Philharmonik library onto it. I haven't had a problem opening other *.cwb files that don't use Miroslav Philharmonik patches. Whatever insight anyone may have would be greatly appreciated. Thank you (very much) for your kind attention. Most sincerely, bompeia

more info: please give the computer, sound card, the operating system, and other important info to help us a bit. I tried a google search for MCpro24... how old is that software? The only thing I found referred to the windows 98 to xp operating system so I'm thinking this is some old stuff.

You probably need to re-download the Cakewalk VST adapter. Miroslav is a VSTi, and with older Cakewalk programs, VSTs didn't work without that adapter.

I didn't think the cakewalk VST adapter was free until version MC3? they were selling it at one time separate from other programs. they had a free update, but it wasn't the full version - just an update.

Right. If the OP bought it before, the OP should be able to download it again. The OP may need to contact Support, though.

Hello, "Guitarharker"... I use a custom digital audio workstation built by PCAudioLabs. It has an Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 CPPU running at 3.00 GHz. There's 4.00 GB of RAM. Windows XP Service Pack 3 is the operating system. The sound card is a Creative Labs Live! 24-bit External. I purchased Music Creator Pro 24 in 2003. Please let me know if you need more information. Thank you so much for responding. Sincerely, bompeia

Hello, "57Gregy"... Yes, the Cakewalk VST adaptor is installed and successfully detected all my plug-ins including Miroslav Philharmonik's. I'm grateful for your helpful suggestion. Sincerely, bompeia

There is also a possibility that the file is corrupted. I stored my bundle files on a CD for "safekeeping". A number of years later, when I got MC4 I attempted to open them all. They had been saved from CWP8 an older cake program. About half opened and the other half didn't. The error message said corrupted files.

Hello, again, "Guitarhacker"... Yeah, you're probably correct about the possibility of the file being corrupted. Fortunately, I still have a MIDI file of the arrangement. Guess I'll et busy re-doing it. Thank you for your interest in helping me solve the problem. Most sincerely, bompeia
